I recently found a small independent artists supply store and naturally had to have a nosey. One of the products that caught my eye was "Winsor and Newton iridescent medium". This can be mixed with any water based paint to create coloured metallics, or used on its own to give a bright crystalline silver effect.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this product.
For reference I have included the image below.
The blue is macragge blue mixed 50:50 with the iridescent medium
The sword is the medium alone.
Any thoughts?

I actually like how this looks mixed with the blue. It's a subtle touch. The metallic flakes look like they're really tiny, which is pretty awesome. Then again, there's a reason artists (myself included) shell out the big bucks for Windsor and Newton paints so I shouldn't be surprised. How much it run you/how much did you need to water it down?

I love how subtle the it looks. A 75-25 mix with black would give an awesome worn metal look. Cheers for sharing dude. Please tell me your local to surrey as that art store sounds awesome

The medium itself on the sword is giving me ideas as well. Also, how'd it look mixed with an ink?

I think it's about £6 a bottle (75ml) which actually works out cheaper than gw paints, and I thinned it 50:50.
Will try it with different colours and inks , or maybe as a basecoat with different washes.
It should be available in most art stores.
