I just do not understand this, as the rules for movement and the vehicle type of the Leman Russ permits this even if moving at combat speed. Anyone willing to explain to me why they can only be snap-fired (as multiple people tell me)? Again, forgive my ignorance, but I am a new player.

It is not that you can only snap fire Leman Russ sponsons as for some of the variants this is never an issue unless two of the damage results come into play. The snap firing of the sponsons and the hull mounted gun come into play if you fired or are going to fire the main turret and that main turret is that of an ordinance type. This rule can be found not under the ordinance rule but in the vehicle section of the BRB and under vehicle shooting. I believe the headline is something like vehicles and ordinance. I do know its the last paragraph on the page and the page is that of the right page if you have the book open completely on a table.

Hope this helps you out.

Also note that 'Lumbering Behemoth' was removed and Leman Russ tanks are now Heavy.

It has to do with a Leman Russ with a specific rule. It is considered a Heavy Vehicle as per the FAQ, so is considered stationary, except the Main weapon is an Ordnance weapon. If you fire the Battlecannon, then you have to snapshot the sponsons, per the Vehicles and Ordnance Weapons rules on pg 71.

So this applies to the Battle Tank and the Demolisher, the rest are non-ordnance builds and can fire all weapons at full BS.
