The Fallen Realm of Umbar

So, I have some free time on my hands and thought to myself, hey what better way to spend it than by starting a P&M blog? I might actually even get an army fully painted out of the end of it

I'd like to give a shout out to my guys finnan and n0t_u for inspiring me to start this blog with their own blogs.
You can find them here:
n0t_u: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/427645.page
finnan: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/269370.page

Now with some of the promoing aside I'll start by posting some WIPs from my Farsight Enclave. I hope that the camera is kind to me

Well, on the bright side we can joke about them getting back in the kitchen now.

I'm also liking the grey being mixed it, I'm not all that familiar with Farsight's scheme, but it seems like a good addition to it rather than red everywhere.

Looks like good, crisp painting to me. I have to say I'm also a fan of the scheme, which is why I use something very similar on my Marines.

Really like the base on the Riptide, too. What'd you do for that? I suck at basing, so even simple stuff is always a revelation to me.

Thanks.
The base was pretty simple, it was just the GW sand with the smaller sized slate from the fantasy basing kit mixed in.

That, my friend, is a kick-ass Riptide. I was going to say that the red was a little on the dull side, but then I saw the second shot, and I reversed that opinion. Totally, 100% spot on.
Loving the red and the grey - really nice balance between the two colours and it works very well. I've been thinking red and grey for my upcoming Shining Spear, and I think this work has definitely sold me on it.

Nice work on the squads too Two thumbs up - good work buddy!

I wouldn't say no to some Sept markings in a contrasting colour though... I want to say white, but that seems a bit obvious, even if it'd be super-strong and work really well. Yellow? (you know I'm fond of my reds, oranges and yellows) Black... with a very fine lime green accent?? (it would have to be TINY amount of green though otherwise it'll stand out too much against the red and look awful). A burnt orange... or maybe just a brighter red...

"Pit Crew! Take this box out back, throw in a rabid Honey Badger and SET IT ON FIRE!"

If I were an Eskimo, I'd build my igloo next to a supermarket on a tropical beach.

Thanks fin, it means a lot coming from someone as accomplished on you. I fully understand what you mean by the sept markings, but I was holding off on those until I can highlight the armour a bit more so that it is more in line with that on the pathfinders. I was actually thinking a nice cool blue for the sept colour, somewhere around enchanted or regal blue, since that was the colour I was going to use for the lenses on the helmets and such.

Onto today's small update, I've been pretty hectic getting some games in and so regretfully haven't painted that much, however I was able to highlight the armour on some of the Fire Warriors.
The right most one has not been highlighted and is just there as a comparison.

Although, I don't think that the lighting was as good as it could have been imo, I may retake the photo and upload it again tomorrow.

I also had my mail order from the UK get here and I have to say, that I am quite excited to give it a full read through.

be careful with the blues - Regal and Enchanted are actually quite dark, and might not stand out against the red. It also made me think 'Superman colours' (but I am doing a Superman project at school, so I might have that on the brain!). Maybe Hawks Turquoise/Temple Guard Blue for that touch of green to make it stand out a little?

Now that's an idea, and Hawk Turqoise is one of my favourite colours...

it is lovely - I have to stop myself from automatically reaching in its direction! I think that was what made me come up with yellows, reds and greys for my Craftworld!

I'm really digging your work so far. I also think Hawk Turquoise would make those sept marks "pop" and look good at the same time

The only thing it makes me itch is the round thing in the Fire Warrior's pulse rifles. It's just begging for a different color to break the monotony

Thanks, I think you mean the scopey things at the top of the rifle yes?

I do plan on doing them some other colour at some point down the line, but who knows when that will be?

Just a quick update, well, a teaser to be honest, of some stuff for my Vampire Counts.

I do apologise for the photo quality guys, it is something I hope to work on in the future, I will hopefully be back to doing the armour on my Fire Warriors tomorrow afternoon.

Ok guys, I know its been like 3 months, I do apologise for that, but university is important I suppose, just thought I would make a quick post so that you all know I am still alive when it comes to painting and modelling.
Here's some almost finished Battlesuits that will be Support Commanders for some drone units, (and a drone too as well )
