First of all, it's an amazing feeling having my own table so this is an exciting project for me. I built this on top of an old metal desk with some strips of wood to support the plywood table. I used a calk gun with loktite to secure everything down. After the glue dried, I bought some sand and glue and I used some cork board to make a trench and some hills just to break it up a little. I applied the glue with a large paintbrush and then threw sand down over it. I then watered the glue down even more and put another layer to lock in the sand. After this dried, I just took some leftover latex house paint and put two coats over the whole thing. Now I'm slowly adding detail to everything and playing games on it in between!!

Glued these beams down for support. about $2

Two 3x4 sections glued down right over top of the beams. about $13

I didn't get a picture of just the cork but you can get it in a variety of sizes. This is the glue and sand stage. The glue was $13 for a jug and the sand was $3 for a 50lb bag of it.

Just a random color to prime it.

I just added a little detail with craft paint

That looks excellent so far!

What else do you have planned to add to it?

I want to eventually dry brush the whole thing a brown dirt color with some charred blast areas then i'll add grass patches. I think some jagged rockes would go well in the trench. I also need to work on terrain. I've built two bridges for the trench but thats as far as I've gotten.

The two I made are not. One is just big enough for a Rhino and the other just fits a landraider.
