The blue was to give the model a more magical look, and also added some needed cold to a model that would otherwise have just been a grey tree person on a snow base.

It's a neat idea, but I'd go even more extreme. Make the twigs browner and the ice blue/green/whiter.

There is no ice actually on the model, it's all meant to be melted snow. And I had intended to add some greyish brown bits onto the model to make it look more like wood, but I've got a local tournament coming up and I want my army painted when it fails XD
