Ok after finding some templates online I've been out and bought some materials,
So far the total cost of this project has been:

1pack of mixed sizes A4 sheets of plasticard £9.75
1 A2 sheet of 5mm thick foam board £2.10

Started cutting out all the pieces only taken me 4 hours, however I should point out that this is
My first ever attempt at any type of scratch build.

Wish me luck guys

(edit: after a couple of requests here is the template i used for this build, the instructions arn't very clear think they have been translated from french as this appeared in a french white dwarf)

Anyone out there got any ideas as to what I could use for the bearings on the bottoms of the door? Was thinking of using a pencil cut up to the right size however I don't think it's going to be thick enough now I've built one of the sides, the templates I've got call for imperial guard tank sprues but I'm being tight and not wanting to spend anymore on this really

That's turning out pretty awesomely.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I think its pretty accurate, though maybe a tad too big. Whatever though, I think most people will let you play with it. I would. Nice scratchbuild.

Anyone out there got any ideas as to what I could use for rivets???

Started adding some of the details tonight will post some pics later.
Also how do you seal the foam edges of foamboard ( foam core)

To seal the edges of the foam core just use a brush and paint on some PVA (white glue) and let dry.
As for rivets...sewing pins cut down to 1/8th of an inch shaft length. A dab of super-glue (the thick kind would be better for this) to hold and stick the pin right into the foamcore.

Well the build is complete!!! Started putting the undercoat on going to give it a couple of coats of black acrylic mixed 50/50 with pva (elmers glue) to seal the foam board, looking good the picture doesn't do it justice.
Going to have to get the wife's camera and take some proper pictures.

PVA + paint makes it look way to streaky

but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck.

well done.

Any updates? I'm interested in doing this build myself. I'd like to do it all from plasticard and avoid the foam board, and make the door openable. Has anyone done this?

Rules for the Lucius Pod just changed BTW.
While it's still an assault vehicle, you can no longer assault the turn you arrive. Due to the dust/dirt kicked up the vehicle gains Shrouded USR (including the area of the open doors and any models in LOS of the Pod).
The Pod is considered Open Top upon landing.
The turn AFTER arrival, the Dread can then Move out of the Pod, shoot, and assault. (unlike normal Pods; which may change with the new Dex; the Dred stays embarked the turn it lands.
I assume the dred can shoot out of the Pod upon arrival.
The payback is the Dred is still inside the Pod...so any Interceptor Fire is taken on he Pod and not the Dred (no more getting your Dred killed by S4+ Intercept shots on rear armor upon landing).
