With the rumors of 'Centurions' marines with extra armor and a lascannon in each hand I was reminded of some old (2008?) Goodwin art showing Dev marines with a heavy weapon in each hand. I definitely remember a dual assault cannon guy.
I don't think it was ever published and my google fu has not been able to find it. Any one else remember it?

Wouldn't surprise me if they took some cues from those. Even though Marines aren't his baby anymore, he still has plenty of input in the designs of their units.

I still don't see why they couldn't just do a terminator heavy weapon squad. Seems a bit curious from an aesthetic and fluff perspective to go this route. Lord knows shooty terminators could use some love.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Eldarain, your "google-fu" is impressive.
Indeed, you ARE powerful.
On that note, it seems these boys would pretty much rid the need for Devastators.

If devastators become more reasonably priced, these new guys could be the more heavily armoured/elite guys with a bigger price tag. They could serve as adaptable anti-air, too, I guess.
