Hi guys! My name is James and I run J.Marcus Studios. The pictures are a recent commission I just finished up. I have to say I enjoyed painting these guys. I've been playing with and painting wargames miniatures since 1989 when I was introduced to Battletech, and its been my favorite hobby since then! Please feel free to give me some honest critique on the models. I learned a few techniques with these models that I've never done before such as airbrushing and trying my hand at non-metallic metal (cant say I enjoyed it… but I didn't hate it). Also it was a learning experience dealing with models from a variety of sources attempting to capture the character of each Primarch. If any of you have questions about commission work let me know!

They are honestly all over the place in terms of scale. The bases on them are roughly terminator sized. But as far as how they stack up next to each other, Dorn and Guilliman are considerably larger than the others. Angron is the size of a standard marine. Horus is considerably larger than a standard terminator. other than Angron, they are all larger than terminators. They would all work well for games of 40k without seeming out of place… except Angron…seriously that models size bugged me lol. On th plus side I do have a Forgeworld Angron to paint for the same customer (I think he was also unimpressed by the Angrons dimunitive stature!)

Very well painted, however that is the wrong scheme for that version of Horus' armor. He did not start wearing the heads and skulls on his armor until he had turned to Chaos, his white armor still had the wolf pelt but no heads or chains etc on it.

To answer the scale question they are supposed to be close to scale with the size of Primarchs to the size of Marines, but they are slightly short when compared to FW's Primarchs. (which are now considered the "Correct size")

Yeah I was given some guidlines such as: I want them painted loyalist colors… except Horus needed to be Luna Wolf colors not sons of Horus because the sea foam green color was not particularly liked by the client ;D

In all actuality Horus never wore the seafoam green, he wore white/gold up until his turn to Chaos at which point he had a custom suit manufactured by the fabricator general and it was Black/Gold, just that particular sculpt is designed around the black/gold.

The Legion was renamed after The Triumph At Ullanor, at that point was when they changed to Seafoam, but Horus himself never wore the Seafoam and truly never matched his Legion in the first place.

Lunas wore White/Black (with the exception of 1st company), Horus wore White/Gold, Sons wore Seafoam/Black (with the exception of 1st company) and Horus wore Black/Gold.

Who makes these models?

I have to agree with Brooks on this one

Kabuki produces a few of them.

The same client just got loken and abaddon for me to paint

I'm the same way! I prefer accuracy. Your Luna/sons/legion is awesome btw! I'm excited because I have a heresy era army to paint but I'm waiting for the client to decide which legion it's to be painted as. I think it's narrowed down to world eaters, death guard or imperial fists.

That is an ambitious project, and they turned out amazing. Love the armor on Guilliman...well all of them actually.
