Yes, I buy all of them.
I buy the books that have rules needed for regular games (all codexes+BRB)
I buy the books for armies I play + a couple others.
I only buy books for armies I own.
I don't buy Codexes or supplements (anymore?).

I've been looking through some posts and websites and I've noticed that there are a lot of people concerned with the current prices of the rules required to play the game. I'm mainly just curious if these concerns are translating to actual results or not.

I'm more into the hobby aspects at this point so am more interested in the models than the rules. As such I don't buy codexes with my limited funds so I can have enough models and supplies to keep my hobby going.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

I buy FW books. I don't buy GW books. I don't regret either choice.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I don't really bother buying GW codices anymore considering how high they've jacked up the price especially in Canada. At most I glance through some of them at my friend's house or I get access to them through more..."special" means of obtaining various faction's rules.

Can't condone the regional price gouging so I don't buy them.

The US Prices aren't that bad, so I buy what I need for my 2-3 armies.

I just buy for the armies I own, I don't really want to clutter my living space with books that get replaced every few years.

I buy the codices of popular armies so I can learn how they play so I can be more competitive at my local store. Or I buy them for an army I might in the future play. So basically I am missing a handful of them.

As for the supplements the only one I have my eye on is the Farsight supplement but I want that in a printed format.

Well, I buy all codices but not sure about the supplements. I bought the compendium Death From the Skies but not the supplement Iyanden. Personal interest here.

Up until 6th edition, I bought every codex and supplemental book that GW released.

For 6th, I have the rulebook, and Codex: Dark Angels. I won't be buying any more unless they release a more affordable softcover option. Or at least, I won't be buying them new.

I buy the codices for my main armies (it are only two, so probably a LE when they come out).
I have some Tau but I will wait until: A) other armies are a bit stronger and B) I actually have enough to play in a game.

The BRB I have from Dark Vengeance.
I'm not going to buy three different FW-books when I need rules for only 3 or 4 models.
And I will probably buy all supplements when my armies get them.

i dont buy them these days. the codexs dont hold any value, may aswell flush your money down the toilet. a bunch of rogue trader crap isnt like owning spiderman 1 or a black lotus from MTG.

Normally I would have said I only buy books for armies I play, but as I've got the Eldar book and don't see myself starting a full Eldar army any time soon I technically had to pick the third answer.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

I only buy books for the armies that I play . As for the supplements I haven't picked any up due to the fact GW has only put them out for the ipad .

Now if they released them for the android I would be all over them.

I only buy the books for the armies I own, however I own 11 armies so there are only a few I don't buy. I also pick up the supplemental material like the IA books.

To the end of 3rd ed I brought each and every codex and supplement that came out.

Now I just have my trusty IG codex and one for the wolves. So long as I know my own codexes strengths and weaknesses I am quite happy saving my hard earned money.

Of course I buy the army books that I need for my current army.

The plural of codex is codexes.

I buy the books from my armies ( i have Ultramarines and chaos renegades now, i sold my guards) and the BRB from dark vengeance , if i need to check some rule from other codex's (to make sure the other player is not cheating) during a match i look on line for the codex. but then again in Portugal they only sell 6th editions codex's so we have to order from the Uk.

The rules seem like a much smaller cost then the models required to play the game.

Orks - "Da Rust Gitz" : 3000 pts
Empire - "Nordland Expeditionary Corps" : 3000 pts
Dwarfs - "Sons of Magni" 2000 points
Cygnar - "Black Swan" 100 pts
Trollbloods - "The Brotherhood"
Haqqislam- "Al-Istathaan": 300 points
Commonwealth - Desert Rats /2nd New Zealand 1000 points

Up until 3rd, I had most of the army books for 40k.
In 4th, I bought only those I played.
In 5th, likewise.
In 6th, I haven't bought any.

For fantasy, last rulebook I bought was 3rd ed (my club has their own library copy of the WHFB8 RB, so I don't need to).
Don't even recall if it had army books back then.

The internet provides otherwise.
I prefer to get my rules and army lists this way. It works for infinity - which is the main reason I stopped playing 40k.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
