Hey everybody, me again. I want to post my work more often but I keep forgetting. Anyway, I am working on a redux version of my Tau commander (found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/512518.page). I was never really happy with the way he looked and I finished him right before the FAQ about two weapon suits so I need to put together a WYSIWYG commander for a couple local Tournaments and Modeling Competitions.

Anyway, I really liked the initial concept of my first Commander but I think the execution just kinda fell flat. Something about the pose and the frankly less than spectacular paint job. So I decided to try again but this time I wanted to get his pose right and make the design more interesting. I also have been trying to figure out new and interesting ways to add more detail to the model overall. One of my issues with Tau models in general is that they lack the depth of detail that can be seen in more of the recent armies. Anyway, here is my new and exciting MKIII Helldiver Custom Commander.

NOTE: I'm not sold on the Burst Cannons, they just look really cool. I am leaning more on Plasma right now but I want to try out the BCs a bit more before I commit. This guy is also sorted out with Iridium Armor too, which is why he is a bit more bulked out.

Those things sticking out on his back are Reaction Mass Tanks, since he is so heavy due to the extra he needs a bit of extra fuel and they help with balance, at least that is my fluff. I'll do another post later with all of the fluff about my design, for now I just want to focus on the model. Suggestions and comments are welcome. I really want this guy to stand out and I plan on painting him in red again but I am still not totally sure what I want to do. White is also an option maybe.

Weapon suggestions are also welcome but I don't want to do double MPs. I have another commander I am working on with Double MPs and he is gonna be his own awesomeness.

Nice! Love the pose, basing looks like it will turn out well, and the little extra pieces can really make a difference. Stoked to see how it turns out.

What did you use for the hose(?) or is it more like honor cords of some kind?

Very nice conversion job!

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Three!! Three successful trades! Ah ah ah!

YES! The Helldiver suits are back! I've always loved your suit design... It seems so.. Perfect!

Maybe double plas for his loadout?

Thanks for the support guys, it makes me want to work even harder. I was going to try putting together a couple different weapon options on this guy so I might snag pictures and show them around. I plan to have him primed and ready for paint tomorrow so I have to finish adding detail to the base and pick my weapons. Quick note, I hate magnetizing. Not the concept but the execution, I am just really bad at doing it.

Plasma/Plasma seems to be the way everyone is going lately but I just can't shake how awesome the burst cannons look on this suit.

@TheMeanDM: The Hose is a 2mm "Chain Unit" used for detailing Gunpla models. It looks great but since it is metal it can be hard to work with. Gravity really like to mess with the hose when you are trying to model with it. I decided to go with this particular hose material because it has a tone of detail to it, almost exaggerated detail in a way, and it should be easy to see on the table top once it is painted up.

I'll keep the hits coming!
