Hello!

I am looking for advice. It is about Orks.

I want to add a new Warbike Mob to my army. I have spare box of bikers but I would like to use something different.

Orcs & Goblins Orc Warboss - as a Nob.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod840850

Orcs & Goblins Orc Boar Boyz - as boys.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440080a&prodId=prod750002a

I can't find any inspiration. Sad. Maybe you could help me with some links/pictures/ideas?

I am thinking about one external(1, 2, 3) armour with mounted Dakkaguns. I am not sure if I will be able to do some cybork implants like Space Wolves Cyberwolf (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440283a&prodId=prod1460187a).

In advance:

Really appreciate any answer and any time you put into research. I also appreciate a fact that you want to share that rare experience of buildeing these...

Cheers.

/I am not lazy. I will put something here ...as soon as I find something.

If you track down WD 298 ( Not sure about this one) and 299 (pretty sure about this one) they're were articles about doing feral Orks which involved putting Orks on Boars. I think they went into pretty good detail about how they did it.

As to cyboars ..well that all depends on your modelling and conversion skills ..
Splicing in a Wheel or track in place of either front legs or back legs is not difficult ....changing a single leg to a cybornetic part might take a bit of doing .. (Kromelch sells a ton of ork sized Mechanical replacment bits..several of which could be used on the boar..

Change some of the Riders weapon arms to be Choppas, or Power Claws ..(the glainve makes a good big choppa)

Thank you for your input.

@gianlucafiorentini123. Unfortunately I don't have access to these issues of WD.

@Depraved. I would like to use GW set. It is easier to adjust 40k stuff to WHFB. And thanks for that picture. Harnesses gave me some ideas.

@morfydd. Great idea. I know what you mean. Fur patches or bandages on the connection point should be quite easy to do with these.

And - mostly I do kitbashing. Example:

Time to aquire some new skills...

Cheers.

@CountCyrusMade.

Now. Count of Deffkoptas in my list just went down. In favour of more DeffBoar/DeffPig Riders.

Thanks for that.

Cheers.

@ CountCyrusMade that is one I had not seen lots of inspiration there ..

Hrmmmn now there is a thought Mantic gore riders for Regular Biker Boys and Games Workshop Boar Boyz for the Biker Nobz ..size wise it will look right ..as the Mantic Boar Riders are slightly smaller than the Games Workshop ones ..(thickness)

and one of the Max Mini Boars for the Warboss ..to Ride ..(Depending on size..)

@ Boaredbeard looks like your kitbashing and conversion skills are more than up for it ..

First, I misread it as "Conversion: Bears on Bicycles." Regardless of that, here's what I've done before for armor:

Most of the armor plating I've built before tends to be from cereal-box card. I'd, carve out any viewports or holes, reinforce the carved-out sections with medical / bandage tape (thicker than clear cellophane tape, it just seems to make things more durable) wet the card in order to form the armor plates over the surface it's covering, and then let it dry. Once it's dry you can re-wet it again for further shaping. Once you have it shaped, you can paint it and seal it.

If you're unable to use a model for forming the armor plates, for example if you were adding a curved plate over a boar's snout and want it to pop up a bit from the snout, I suppose you could bend the wet card over a thin plastic tube to get the curve you want.

@PaperworkNinja.
How do you fix or harden cardboard and paper when you have it in a place and shape you want?
I am really curious. Never tried that before. I always work with bits, plasticard and sometimes with green stuff.

@morfydd
I like MaxMini models very much - but it doesn't mean I am abandoning my initial idea.
And, thanks for your good word. I really enjoy what I am doing and regardless of lack of time, dedicated space and skills... I will try to do that as long as I can.

Cheers

I'll usually try to tape it down. I've also used a hair dryer before to dry it quickly. Of course now that I'm bald I have no need for a hair dryer, so I just put it in front of a fan to dry it quickly.

I've done this with making fenders by wetting some box card, forming them by laying them on the barrel of a pen and holding down the ends with cellophane tape. once it's dry it tends to stay in the correct shape long enough to be painted. Once it's painted, it should stay the proper shape. I'll see if I can find my old Beastmen warband banner again. It's got a slight curl to it that shouldn't have flattened out from age.

Sorry to leave you hanging, here's what I'm doing in picture format:

The first picture contains my materials: card from a tissue box, scissors, hockey tape (it holds to plastic a bit better), and a form-maker. In this case, the form-maker is an empty canister of Gatorade powder and has a nice gentle curve. The supervisory cat is completely optional, but he demanded to get into the shot. The poster-tac in the background is used to keep the canister from rolling away. It's similar to blue-tac, I think.

The second photo is "where the magic happens." I soaked five strips of card with cold water and taped down their ends so that the strips will be formed to the curve of the canister. This is a way to make simple fenders. The heavily-taped card strip on the side is being bent lengthwise while being curved, so it requires more tape to hold it down. While there isn't much use for it being bent in a manner I'm showing it for intent.

Now the next thing to do is let them dry. Will it work? It's been twenty years since I last used this method, so something may be amiss. I don't think I've forgotten anything, though.

Don't worry - I have figured this out. I will use .5mm plasticard and heat gun.

Side note: Paper templates! I have never used a paper templates for my plasticard work. It helps to save a lot of material. Use them!
It may be clear for most of you but ... I just found this out. Ty PaperworkNinja.

Cheers

Ooh, the plastic card and heat gun are an even better option! I hadn't even thought of those. Good luck on your project.
