Right from the warp all shiny and new. Straight from hell to your eyes. This was my attempt at a Maulerfiend, iron warrior, for my chaos marine army. Took me around 5-6 hours. Not sure if that is good or not. Anyways, If you look close enough, you can see the feet are placed on the wrong sides . Lucky I was able to use the base to minimize the damage. I tried to pull the off after I noticed but I glued them on too tight and didn't want t snap the model... Well he seems to have turned out well. I included some progress pics for any one interested on how it came along. Enjoy

Looks good. I would suggest some washing on the metals, would really make them pop out more followed by some lining or could do a little drybrushing. Clean work

I really like the use of red on it than the typical purplish skin color, heck i didn't even know maulerfiends had skin until i looked up their picture a second ago. I love the red, but it almost seems to clean, considering it would be at the front lines tearing anything it can see apart. but there is my 2 cents.

Spend a tiny bit more time to really straighten out those warning stripes of the IW insignia and then dunk it in agrax, and it will look about a third better for, at the absolute most, an hour more work.

And I like the bricks on the base.

Ya that was the plan at the start. I had planned to add some rust dry brushing at the end but I ended liking the shiny medival look so much I ended up keeping it. I chalk it up to being his first battle or maybe it was a daemon that is very into his own looks.

Ya I had trouble with that. Could never get them right but I didn't want to use to much paint and make it look worse.

Thanks

Nice work, "clean" models are fine as long as your entire army matches.

A Heretic may see the truth and seek redemption. He may be forgiven his past and will be absolved in death. A Traitor can never be forgiven. A Traitor will never find peace in this world or the next. There is nothing as wretched or as hated in all the world as a Traitor. - Cardinal Khrysdam, Instructum Absolutio

Lol that will be a problem for me then. I want to try out different painting techniques on my army so I have been making different schemes from different CSM factions. For instance the maulerfiend is Iron Warriors while my cultists are Alpha Legion and my Marines\Hellbrute are Black Legion. I figured it should work in lore if they are fighting in the 13th crusade. Right?

Wow, looks really good. I guess my only issue is that it looks like it just came off the assembly line. Chaos needs to look worn and a bit dirty. My take on it is that you should feel like if you were standing next to anything chaos, you really woudn't want to touch it. I guess grimey is the word I'm looking for. But that's just me.
