What GW paints would you suggest for the blue-grey Tau scheme? The base and the highlight colours if possible.

Thanks

Personally, i would base coat in The Fang, then layer up with Russ Grey, and Fenrisian Grey. For the edge highlights, id add in alittle white, or off white to the fenrisian.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

I did my tau a similar way as above. I primed it black, then dry brushed grey on the cloth and base coated the armor in The Fang. I washed the entire thing with black to darken the lines on the armor and blend the cloth. I went over the raised portions of armor with The Fang, then highlighted with Fenrisian Grey.

My tau are not so grey, but a light light blue.

I know you asked for GW, but Valejo's miniature paint line has some fantastic colors that come very close to the colors you want. I use their artic blue (its almost white) to do highlights. Its really fantastic stuff.

Plus it comes in dropper bottles. I can't stand GW paintpots.

I'd agree with the previous comments but i have no idea what the orange would be.

Depending on how much of that blue tint you want Vallejo Glacier Blue would be great, Alternatively, for a very pale grey, Vallejo Ghost Grey is a great colour.

I used Blazing Orange, which I think is Troll Slayer Orange now. I mixed in a little Fortress Grey though, because I wanted to mute it a little bit.

Here's how it came out:

Technically... the color scheme of the firewarrior's armor has nothing to do with the sept. The Tau actually camouflage themselves based upon their environment. (I know, crazy right?).

The color of the lines that go up the armor signifies the sept world. So its the orange that signifies Sa'Cea.

this is correct, only the sept markings denote the origin of a Tau warrior, nothing else.

If you want a good translation, I'd go back to the old codex. They have all the colours used for the Sa'cea fire warrior - all you need to do is use the paint conversion chart to find out what they are now.

EDIT - The old Sa'cea colour scheme is darker than the one in the new codex. If you want to use the "modern" scheme, then follow the advice above - that's pretty much spot on.
