I'm the sort of person which will go crazy with painting for a few weeks, then do nothing for months..... Meaning that a painting spree has been long overdue! As a student however, finding money for the models can be a pain. Anyway, I recently got paid more than expected by a summer job so decided to splash out on some Nids! After a while scouting around on eBay I decided to purchase a Tyranid Army and add a few unpainted figures I already owned to it to create the mother of all painting projects! I'm sure people on here have done far larger armies all at once, but for someone who is used to painting a box at a time I felt like a glutton, its a completely different feeling to see an entire swarm emerging together from the (chaos black spray-induced) darkness

Anyway I have now had the figures for 5 days (sadly only 3 of those I was able to spend painting) but I thought I would stick up photos of what I have managed to do so far. Its a paint scheme I've been trying out in my head for a while but never had the models to actually use, so please let me know what you think of it! Its a little annoying as the first couple of coats of paint make the model seem to whizz towards "finished", then it dramatically slows down when you get onto details If anyone likes the scheme and is interested in how its done then let me know and I'll post it here Just seemed like a potentially boring list as I don't currently have photos of the different stages unfortunately.

So 3 days in I still need to finish painting the Warriors, Prime conversion, Gargoyles, Flyrants and the second Tervigon. Almost all of the models still require a quick base-ing with Gravel & PVA. I hope you guys like the painting, its definitely not pro-painted but I would like to know what you guys think of the standard in case I ever think of selling this lot (to fund my next painting project!

Incidentally, if anyone knows how to stop some of the above pictures being side-ways it would be much appreciated! Please let me know if you can help

That makes sense so far I'm just painting Bleached Bone (or similar) & washing Devlan Mud. If you have any suggestions or tips I would love to hear from you!

You could try simply edge highlighting with Bleached Bone again or feathering towards the tips.

They look great! You are making some good progress really quickly- it takes me an age to paint my Nids! On the question of adding depth- you can highlight up adding a bit of white to the bone [keep the paint thin and the effect will be subtler]. Or/and you could add more devlan mud wash just to the recesses to make the shading heavier- it's quite quick. Keep it up!
