Posted the WIP of this about 2 weeks ago. Finally got round to painting him up and photographing him. I went for the high-gloss look like the model that was my inspiration. I attempted to do a candy coat, but failed miserably due to the lack of an airbrush. The gloss is simply automotive gloss varnish while the mechanical parts received a coat of matt to reduce the level of gloss present.

The base is supposed to be water, but I haven't had the chance to bug any females for their nail varnish yet, so it stays not-glossy-enough for now.

I wonder if I should decal the model...

I'm not fond of the highlighting on the red though. Looks orange (which may be your intention, but in that case I don't like orange).

 

P.S Yes, the highlight up to orange was my intention. I wanted it to be orangy and look less like it was some newfangled Blood Angels Dread.

It's always difficult to know if gloss or matt or semi-gloss is the best finish.

You do realize you could just buy a bottle of this stuff on your own? It's not expensive at all. ??

I don't care for the head, or at least the eyes. The rest of it is pretty swank though.

I really like the base-- the water displacement thing is a cool idea, and well-executed to boot!

He never lands ironkodiak.

I really like it. The shoulder pads and head the most.

Its easier to do a roundhouse kick when you're hovering.

Cool battlesuit, looks kind of like a Rifts SAMAS suit.

The matt/gloss contrast really sells it.

I would say more like a Triax Cyclops suit jester. . .
