Hola!

I have rather unfortunately let me purchases and acquisitions outpace my ability to paint. As a result I now have a number of armies that need completed. I have placed a hiatus on all further acquisitions until caught up.

As an incentive, this will be a log of my efforts to make significant progress!

First up (hidden behind the 2 bikes) is my Taudar army. All the usual good stuff, 3 Broadsides, Riptide, Wraithknight, Jetbikes, 4 Wave Serpents.

Next up:

- Large Chaos Daemons army, inc. flying circus, 80 Bloodletters, 50 Pink Horrors etc. This army is actually too large for my needs and I might end up trading some of it away (once I get a chance to select and paint what I actually want).

Note that, rather bizarrely, some of my bloodletter sprues melted! I have no idea how that happened.

I realize its pretty hard to see the items packed away as they are. As I approach each project, I will unpack and photo accordingly.

Also, I have a Dreamforge Leviathan to complete which I neglected to take a photo of.

My plan of action (yes, I like a cheesy headline/moniker):

- 'Space Wolf September'

- Finish Dark Angels. I'm pretty sure I can do this in a day or two.
- Finish Space Wolfs

Inquisition October

- Finish Grey knights + possible surprise game from GW

Nidvember

- Nids to coincide with new Codex

December

- Something fun, either the Taudar or the Ogres for some WHFB

Update time.

Dark Angels finished! Strictly to a tabletop standard.

I wanted to play with a tri-landraider list so I acquired 2 tactical squads in a trade as well as a couple of beaten up landraiders.

Also, I wanted to experiment with a couple of techniques I hadn't done before, specifically: weathering powders and forgeworld brass icons. I'm not sure I got the best of either, I couldnt work out whether I was meant to paint the icons, and they seemed far too bright and garish, so I ended up weathering them. The weathering powders I had more success with, but I think I was possibly meant to put alcohol on first to get them to stick.

Anyhoo, pleased to get one army out of the way!

Been a while since my last update. Went to Ireland on a business trip and played the DA Triple landraider list at Gaelcon. Won a couple of games but in general got handled by anything semi-competitive (Eldar, Chaos Daemons).

Decided to take a break from the Imperium and paint up some Xenos. To that end I have just finished my Eldar, should be a little more competitive than the Space Marines I have been playing. Anything red in the army I painted, the rest I acquired in trades.

Next up is some inquisition!

Now that army is out of the way I have the chance to catch up on a couple of outstanding projects. First up is my barbarian character for the pathfinder campaign I play in every Monday night.

First off... that Eldar army is sexy! Also where is that barbarian figure from?

It is from Mierce Miniatures. I got it in this kickstarter:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-a-world-of-war

There seemed to be a lot of caution with Mierce given their past, but I have to say: this was undoubtedly one of the nicest and best quality miniatures I have ever painted. It was much much nicer than GW model and really opened my eyes to how poor quality some of the finecast stuff is. I am looking forward to painting the rest of the minis and would buy more if I weren't already overwhelmed by the amount of plastic I have to paint.

Played a couple of games, loving the Eldar. Got handled by a couple of deathstars though so couldn't resist putting my own bundle of cheese together.

On another note, I am having difficulty feeling the love for the whitescars army I am putting together (I think I've painted enough space marines in my time) and have decided to sell it.

Started my Tau Army. Here is a WIP broadside. I tried a new approach and base-painted the spues before building. The downside is that you can see the marks where I cut off painted items from sprue.

I can't decide if the marks look ok (like battle damage) or bad (like I cut off painted parts from the sprue). Any comments ?
