Eldar Win the first turn roll. Dawn of War (we forgot to play nightfighting on turn 1). I dont remember the game type name but there were 6 objectives each worth 1-4 points and they each did special things when you got near them.
Eldar deploy everything except the Crimson hunter, the 2 squads of jetbikes and the warp spiders. Maugan Ra is with the squad of 20 guardiansn the avatar is near the other squad of guardians with both the farseers joining a squad of wraithguard each.
Orks deploy everything. He had 2 dreadnaught looking mechs, 12 lootas, 2 psychers, a warboss, 3 Kannons, a unit of 'Ard Boyz lots of regular boyz (6 full squads each with a power klaw guy) 3 squads of 5 choppas, and then some 2 wound elites one of which counted as a troop due to his warboss.
Orkz try to sieze the initiative and fail!
Eldar Turn 1:
Vypers move left and right getting in good shooting position. Same for wave serpents, falcons and the fire prism (just for the Jink Save).
Shooting phase everything that can shoot does (forgot to do nightfighting as mentioned above). 2 Pulse lasers, 2 bright lances, large blast from a prism cannon, a star cannon,an eldar missile launcher, 4 reaper launchers, 14 scatter lasers and a suncannon all open fire (oh and the maugetar from Maugan Ra). 7 lootas go down (even through cover saves), 1 kannon, and a boatload of boyz (like 40+). This is my first taste of scatter lasers twin linking everything and it comes in real good use with the sunconnon in trying to get a better drift amount (or none at all).
Orkz Turn 1
The green tide surges forward and runs as fast as they can to get to the eldar line! 2 squads of choppas turbo boost while 1 doesnt. The remaining lootas rool for their shots. 3 EACH! They take their 21 shots at the Dark reapers and their accuracy is horrid but 1 goes down anyways! The Kannons take their 2 remaining shots at the war walkers and 1 of them explodes! hitting a nearby wraithguard who shrugs it off! His choppas that can attack take all 5 shots at a vyper immobilizing it and destroying its scatter laser! it only has 1 weapon left. No first blood yet though (the 2 war walkers were squadroned up together and the vyper can still shoot is catapults if the tide gets close enough!).
Eldar Turn 2
Roll for reserves! The crimson hunter comes in and the warp spiders deep strike down in front of a squad of boyz! The crimson hunter zooms onto the board ready to hnt down a mech! The skimmers all move to get their jink saves and the squads of guardians shuffle around to try and stay out of charge range. One unit of wraithguard moves up to shoot at one of the turbo boosted choppas!
All ranged weapons open fire! The warp spiders shred some orks with their weapons into the squad of boyz in front of them offing 9 of the unwashed green men then using their jump packs to jump back 7 inches! The crimson hunter wrecks a mech with 2 penetrations and a glance. 3 hull points gone (didnt roll an explosion result), vehicle wrecked. FIRST BLOOD! The lootas get brough down to 3 from a large blast from the fire prism. The 11 strong guardian squad shoots into the choppas that turbo boosted near them and take 1 out! The wraithguard who positioned themselves to hit the other turbo boosted squad fire their distorion cannons into them taking out 3! The Kannons only lose 1 wound to shooting letting them still keep 2 shots at me. The reapers shoot into the same squad of bikes as the guardians killing 2 more! Reaper range finder for the win! A wave serpent fires at the last 2 Choppas but only kills 1, leaving 1 in the squad who passes his leadership test... brave ork... The rest of the weapons go into various boyz units taking out another 20 or so) the green tide is still on the move!
Ork Turn 2
The green tide surges forward! All the boyz and other melee units move up as far as they can! His Kannons shoot and kill 2 D-Scythe Wraithguard in preperation for the charge! 2 dead wraithguard! The loots get 2 shots each this turn and shoot at the wraithknight who cant make his invulnerable save and takes 2 wounds! His choppas take shots at the vypers but their horrid accuracy and the vypers jink saves save them from damage! The ork psychers cast their random magick... WAAAAAAAAGH! is cast! The green tide starts to charge! The first unit of boyz charges in to the warp spiders but fall short as 2 get mowed down! The 2nd squad charges in and gets right up the the d-scythe wraith guard only to lose 13 of their number to distortion flamers! The rest of the horde falls short as their bretheren are torn apart by the warp! another squad gets a lucky 12 and wipes the floor with the squad of 11 guardians! The next squad gets 11 to charge the group of 20 guardians with magun ra but after the 40 shots from the guardians they fall short of making the charge! The last 2 squads of orks try to charge the wraithguard that killed the choppas but only 1 squad makes losing just 1 to overwatch! near 100 swings are made at the wraithguard but to them it feels like the orca are tickling them. Only 1 blow is hard enough to potentiolly damage the wraithguard but he shrugs off the blow! The farseer and the nob with a claw become engaed in mortal combat! the farseer causes 1 wound to the nob! the nob return with 2 power claw hits but both bouce off the farseers ghost armor! His 2nd dreadnaught charges a group of wraithguard not in melee and it gets wrecked in the overwatch.
Eldar turn 3
Reserves roll! Both jet bike squads come in! They position themselves to eat some orcs! The wraithknights moves up and pops the rest of the lootas! The Guardians with Maugan Ra run up and get right up to the faces of the orks that just failed the charge in front of them. They open fire and the shuriken weapons shred a huge hole in the squad while a squad of bikes mops up the last of them. The D-Scythe wraithguard move up and flame the rest of the orks that tried to charge them. The unit of wraithguard not in melee shoot out at another unit of boys and brings them down low. The warp spiders shoot in the same direction brining thier number to 3 making them flee! The other unit of jet bikes finishes off the last choppa that was left behind from the previous turn. The fire prism knocks out 5 boyz from another unit and the falcons finish off the kannons. The avatar charges in to the unit that killed the 11 guardians and challenges the nob with the power claw. the nob accepts and is brutally destroyed by the avatar and his 6 attacks! The melee going on with the wraithguard continues. The farseer downs the nob with the klaw. The wraithguard down 1 ork but lose one of their own to the massive number of swings from the orcs. Combat tied.
At this point the Orks call it quits. He has lost well over 140 units to my losing 13 and all of his shooters are gone. With all his failed charges and getting overwatched and shot up so much he has just lost too much. He sees that my dire avengers havent even offloaded yet and with those 20 units still fresh and can be unloaded at any time to dakka dakka things to death he feels like he cant even win with the objectives before i polish off the rest of his scoring troops.
This is my first battle in 6th edition and I learned alot. Scatter lasers are boss if your model has more attacks then just the scatter laser, and even then without other shots the sheer number of shots and power of the weapon forces them to make so many saves. They can't win em all. I was especially pleased with the scatter laser suncannon combo. I didnt serpent spam like most eldar players do. I had 5 tanks total which I feel is perfectly acceptable to see in such a high point game. 1 tank per 900 points is very good ration and isnt spammy. The d-scythes were amazing. I wish I had more points to have taken more of them. I also didnt expect them to do so well in melee aginst the orcs but they tied em up pretty good with only losing 1 in 2 rounds of combat.
I also learned that overwatch is all snap shots (somethign I didnt know) which makes it not as useful but flamers with overwatch is rediculously overpowered. His poor charge rolls even with WAAAAAAGH! didnt help him either as well as pretty much all his boyz having nothing but a t-shirt save if they got a save at all. With only 6 pieces of terrain outon the field there wasnt much to hide behind on an 8x4 field. Also the orks need a codex update really really REALLY badly.
Edit: It appears we did get a few pictured before the camera died. My wife was showing them to me when I got home.
