Hey all, this is my first post on Dakka Dakka. I've been a frequent lurker so thought i should finally bite the bullet and post something of my own. This is my cron army I've been working on for a few weeks now. All these bad boys are more or less finished, I'm pretty happy with them overall. Still have some unfinished models on the shelf (doomsday barge among other things) but this is the army as it stands as of the moment. I'll post them as i finish them off.

I'm really keen to hear some feedback as this is my first 40k army Haven't done much with the hobby since i was young (those days of LOTR battles) so was really excited to get back into with a bang. Ive only had a few wargames with my mate and so far I'm really enjoying myself. The army has preformed quite admirable in all honesty, my mate plays Dark Angels so I learned my lesson early on about Cron performance in assault, especially against those pesky Deathwing Terminators. Never the less I am really enjoying our games and was wondering if any gaming vets had ideas about what to follow? I was thinking Praetorians as a next step? Those AP2 rods look quite useful.

Anyway, back to the point here is my army, enjoy. (sorry about image quality, late at night and my crappy camera)

Your models look good but your pictures are mega grainy. Maybe better lighting would help that out. 8/10

Really liking the color scheme you've gone with, and the red rods work excellent with it!

Your metallics are nice and smooth, and your reds are well done, but I just don't think the red and gold work together. They remind me of McDonald's.

Edit: Sorry, that came off kind of harsh. (Had to jump up to go get the baby.) Perhaps another color to break up those two might help? Something cooler? A blue, a green, perhaps a purple?

Hey thanks for the feedback, it's really good to hear I think your right about breaking the color, I've got a little blue on the hq as a trim and spot colour and same for the lych. Might have to try some experimenting hahaha I've got some deathmarks and praetorians in the mail so ill post pics when they arrive :-)

Im a big fan of red and gold combos. Mine are pretty much the same. They look nice. At some point if you want multiple metallic colors for increased depth you can do a dark broze and a bright gold. I was going to give that a go myself.

Also, the lines in the shoulder areas are kinda a pain. I used a few layers of liquid greenstuff and then sand papered then down smoothe. Made a big differencd!

Cheers though mate, and welcome to the Dynasty!

Nice work, they're looking pretty menacing with the simplicity of the scheme. I also like the way you'v used the metallic as the main colour and the non-metallic as the spot colour, as that's often the other way round with crons.

As for a gaming tip, I'll say that my deathwing hate the following things:
Doomsday Arks, as the templates can completely obliterate any squad that just DSed.

large Warriors squads, as the huge number of shots will bring them down pretty fast.

You may not be able to outfight the deathwing, but you can sure as hell outshoot them as crons.

Thanks guys its absolutely awesome to hear some informed feedback and advice

I've been working furiously on my doomsday ark. (Trying to get him ready for a weekend battle with my dark angel opponent), I'm quite excited to see how it performs against his deathwing in particular . ill post pics soon, within the next day or so hopefully.
