This blog will follow my progress on building a Praetors of Orpheus blog. From a fluff standpoint my force will mainly be compromised of the 2nd company of the Praetors. I need a company name for them and am currently thinking "The Hammers of Orpheus". My army will be a drop pod army.

Currently I have the following
50 Praetor of Orpheus shoulderpads
2 Boxes of Devastators
1 Box of Tactical Marines
2 Boxes of Sternguard
1 Kitbash Librarian

Reinforcements consisting of Drop Pods, a Stormtalon and a Thunderfire Cannon are on the way. I also have to pick up a couple more Tactical Boxes.

Here is my first painted Tactical Squad. This squad includes a Lascannon, Plasma Gun and Combi-Plasma.

Here are wip pictures of my 10 man Sternguard unit. I carefully made sure that no torso and leg combination were used together twice. In addition each backpack is only used on each torso AND each leg set once! For shoulder pads each member has their chapter pad and the right shoulder pads are only used once each as well.
Currently rocking 4 combi-meltas, 2 heavy flamers.All weapons that are held with two hands are dry fit in atm, they will not be glued in until painted up.

My kitbash Librarian will be my Chapter's counts as for Tigurius. His name is Chief Librarian Tiberius.

Here are the first two Sternguard in the paint process. The main decision came to the helmets. Traditionally chapters mark their veterans with white helmets, this puts the white armour chapters in a bit of a predicament. I have opted to go with yellow as this goes with their chapter sunburst and looks well matched with the blue. I am hoping to have this 10 man squad completed within the next two weeks.

For the Company name how about "Hammer of the Prophets", as Orpheus was a singer/prophet. Could be that the Librarians have a minor ability to see things that are soon to come about, and the chapter follows their lead to ensure the imperium of man comes out on top. Very similar to the silver skulls in that regard, but they both have the same primarch, so it could make sense.

wow. praetors huh? will definitely be watching this.

some advice though, have you tried building up your white from a gray? it looks a bit too bright right now, but maybe that is just me. and also, keeping your backpacks detached my save you some annoyance while painting.

Been a couple weeks since I updated this. At present I have a tactical squad and 8/10 Sternguard painted.

I have also added a Thunderfire Cannon to the army, I will being including a strong Adeptus Mechanicus presence. I got a Finecast version and was impressed with it, no air bubbling present. I shaved down the left shoulder and affixed one of the Praetor chapter in it's place.

I will not start on the vehicles until the spring when I can bring out the airbrush. My 2nd Tac squad and Tiggy are next to be painted. I'm leaning heavily towards a snow base. Wanted to show an update on how my Praetors are coming along.

Here is a group shot of the 2 Tact Squads, Sternguard, Thunderfire and Centurions all done.

The 2nd is my WIP Tigurius with real blood splatter effect! I accidentally cut into finger while modeling and Tiggy ended up with a bloody mouth/jaw and messy clothpiece. I will get him cleaned up but thought it was worthy of a pic!

In other news I have 3 Drop Pods all primed up and ready for the first warm spring day to utilize my airbrush.

In the meantime, I will be getting my 3rd Tact Squad and kitting it as a Melta unit. I will probably also work on one of my two Dev squads. I am leaning 4x Lascannons (I like my Devs to specialize). Lastly, I believe an Imperial Knight from the Adeptus Mechanicus is in order for my Praetors force! Hope all of those Praetors fans are enjoying the blog!

Very nice force. I for one really like the differing helmet colors for different things on space marines. The yellow looks great and it makes them stand out as a different type of unit.

The white is looking nice. It especially looks good on the centurions. I've never seen them in white before, it kind of gives them a dressy look, like they are on parade. Quite appealing.

Keep up the good work, very cohesive stuff, love the group shot.

I am at an impasse on Librarian Tiberius (counts as Tigurius). I feel like there should be something more on his chest, I feel like the book should be filed off. However I have no clue what piece(s) to place there instead.

In other news I have been working on my 3rd Tactical squad. First 5 are 99% done. Second five have the major paint sections complete. It's all downhill once the silver metals start going on.

Pretty cool. I've never seen anyone try this chapter.
