Hiya all, I'm new to painting and warhammer in general I have recently found (via trial and error) a colour scheme which I think looks good for my DE and I just wanted some opinions on if it looks good and how I can improve my painting skills, I do have shaky hands whilst painting no matter what I try to do to prevent it. I still have to finish the bases as I don't have the paints for them yet. sorry about the poor lighting. thanks all in advance.

You're off to a good start!
The only thing I'd offer on first look is the highlight around the faceplate and eyes is a little heavy, you could do with over painting it with the base colour to thin it down, or darken it down another half a shade and then try and get a final, extra highlight in around the mouth guard and eye lenses.

Frankly, of you're new the best thing you can do to improve your painting is to continue painting. Your photos make it look as if you're already well on your way.
Specific things I would look to improve (based on this mini) would be: Shading of metallics (particularly your silver) and general highlighting. This is not to say you did a bad job, though. If you are actually a newb your paint job is most impressive.

thanks for the feed back, I did a bit of miniature painting back when I was around 10 but that was 11 years ago, how would you recommend shading and highlighting the metallics? as I tried to do that but its showing up as well as I liked.

Good ways to stop your hands from shaking.
1. position your elbows on your knees, or table.
2. Hold your hands in a sort of "cupped" form, and brace your wrists on table.
3. Sniper breaths. Take in a deep breath, release about half of it, then hold.
this is what I do when going for intricate details and stuff, give it a try! lol As for the paint job, it's looking good, very good. thinner highlights, washes, things like that will help.

For the base, find a cheap acrylic (Burnt Umber is what I use), make a wash out of it, and apply over your sand. Next, drybrush over the top with some bleached bone (or equivalent) and then add some grass. Simple, quick, and effective.
