Welcome, to yet another glorious P&M WIP Blog.

It all started with a trip to the USA and wanting to start a new army.

I thought to myself, what better place to grab some 40k than a country that has it at almost half the price of my homeland and this was the result -

Images of Purchases

*The start of my Tau army
*A cheap airbrush to learn with
*A good stock of paints (VMC, VGC, VMA)
*A few packs of Dark Art MIniature bases

Armed with that 'new army kick' I hit the painting bench and here is the result of my first few models, enjoy!

Any c&c would be appreciated, especially relating to how to paint white smoothly, it almost killed me.

N.B - I have not added sept marking yet as I cannot decide on a sept. More fluff to read!
N.B - The commander also has magnatised weapons, hence none on his arms yet!

After going back over my suit I decided he needed some more colour.

So after some searching on what would look nice with a green, I have settled on Bone / Off White.

I am really happy with the result which can be seen below (Sorry about the image quality, my Earth caste techs didn't charge the camera):

Before and After shot

And to test my theme out on the tanks I have just finished my Hammerhead chassis:

I like your colour theme. I would like to see maybe little more bone colour in them though. Looks great with green.

That green looks pretty great! I might just have to try that colour scheme on some of my XV8's.

I think adding the bone colour makes it a heck of a lot better gives it more pop! Keep posting for sure!

@ Xenon - Thanks for the kind words. If you would add more bone where would it be? Keeping in mind that I have not put weapons on yet and that some panels on them would be bone as well.

@ Squidbot & chiefbigredman - Thanks guys, more to come definitely. I hope to have a the Hammerhead completed this weekend so more photos to follow!

Hats off to people who paint Tau. The detail you usually get with the lining over the armour or hull looks good when it's nailed. What did you use to do yours? Was it a brush or a pen?

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair. - Douglas Adams

@4L Goon - Thanks mate, I am glad you like them. I use a brush to do the lines.

The method is roughly as follows:

Green
  • Undercoat - GW Chaos Black Spray

  • Base - VGC Sick Green

  • Lines - Touch up with a black paint (GW Black or VGC)

  • Drybrush - VGC Goblin Green

  • Drybrush - VGC Livery Green

  • Lines - Touch up with a black paint (GW Black or VGC)

  • Highlight - 50/50 VGC Livery Green & VGC Goblin Green

  • Bone
  • Base - GW Karak Stone

  • Highlight - VGC Bonewhite

Thanks for the nice comments all!

Not as much work done over the last week as I would have liked, but hopefully the weekend changes things.

Here are a few more WIP shots of the Hammerhead / Sky Ray (Completely magnetized).

I am really enjoying the simplistic nature of the scheme and how well the bone complements the shades of green.

Without further ado, here are the shots (taken from iPhone to get them up, I will use my proper camera once completed):

I went to paint this weekend and found I had painters block. Nothing I did was coming out right so I decided to shelve that idea and work on some modelling. Below is the result.

    2 x Crisis Suits
    4 x Gun Drones
    3 x Stealth Suits
    1 x Markerlight Drone
    1 x Converted HYMP Broadside
    2 x Missile Pod Drones

After much deliberating and research it seems that the general consensus is that HYMP Broadsides far out way the Rail Rifle model. But the problem was I didn't like the way the HYMP variant looked (too stumpy). So I decided to forgo the chance of magenetzing and went to work on converting the two weapons together. Here is a teaser WIP (pre greenstuff) shot of what it looks like.
