I though I'd share my work in progress on my Space wolves Fire raptor.

Been going at it since GD13 and is taking some time.

Hope you all like.

I decided to tone it down a bit so changed the cam. It was, in my opinion, too much for the wolves. I wanted a subtle cam that would blend in when weathered.

That's quite good.

As im not sure what insignia FW are gonna go for when the wolves are released, Hopefully 13th company and Russ's personal badge ( The one Grimnar uses), I decided to paint an aircraft insignia on the side instead of company/legion logo. I also added the wolf claw on the tail gate.

Nicely done. I will probably pick up one of these. A couple of questions for you:

1. How easily does the kit go together? It seemed like the other variant was a PITA.
2. How easily do you think the side weapons are to magnetize? I'd like to be able to swap back and forth.

Started the weathering, Ak interactive streaking grime for Panzer tanks, Engine grime and oil effects.

For the weapon mounts I painted them a dark silver colour and lightly dry rushed the end brass. With Ak interactives dark metal pigment powder used to dull it down and blend it together.

It's a great model and you are giving it the paint job it deserves.Nice freehanding too.

The kit went together really easily, very little straightening and was quite enjoyable to build. I was a little dubious myself, but really was presently surprised. Id highly recommend it to anyone, no matter their ability.

All weapons are magnetised on mine, Including the front incase more options come out in future books, they were simple enough to do.

Pilot holed with a small drill, larger drill to match magnet size and glue magnets in. They line up fine for both weapon options. Really was that simple.

A view of the most of it. Its almost complete. The majority of the weathering is done, Im going for a mid battle in the thick of it look, without going OTT, which I thimk is about now. If I go any further on the weathering il just ruin it.

All that remains is the gun pods.

Today Iv finished building the flying base. I really don't like the standard GW flying base. Its just too plain. As all my Wolves are geared for Prospero I thought I'd make a sand base for it, all my Army is themed around the old part of Tisca. Sand stone buildings and desert terrain.

The stone comes from the ruins from GW LOTR terrain and the base is made with cork sheeting and small cork chunks.

Hope you like. I Just need to deploy the airbrush on it

Cheers mate, my other projects took a back seat when I bought this. Iv had fulgrim and a squad of palatine blades that have sat part painted for a month now, purely because im enjoying painting this and keep finding little things to add. A great kit. probably the most enjoyable and easiest model iv painted. but then again its the first (drop pod aside) aircraft that iv painted.

Although I do keep going back to my contemptor and destroyer squad Sgt. As I paint with glazes the red armour is taking forever..

That would definitely be the Thousand Sons and the Battle of Prospero. Excellent basing choices man, really completes the scene and how I saw it in my head.

If anyone has read prospero burns then you will know what I mean when I say im going for the old part of Tisca.
For those that havnt read the book. The Old town Tisca is like Paris in the Desert. Kind of Cairo but nice. Lost of old buildings, cafe's and such like. I like the idea of the wolves ripping that to bits

Very nice paint and weathering, although I thought that the original paint scheme that matched your PJs was pretty cool....
