Hey All!

Long time no see

I just finished my first minis in eight and a half years.

When the "new" codex dropped i wanted to get more Shoota Boyz but i wasnt really doing much in the hobby around then so i kept doing nothing till earlier this year, i bought an ork army that had been "laid off" for a good price, intending to incorporate it into my army.

The bulk of the boyz there were from AOBR so they needed a bit of cutting and refittning to become shootas.

I stripped them, cut off the old arms and added shootas from my bitzbox on thursday.
Primed and started painting on friday.
Continued painting on saturday.
Finished them yesterday.

The small group shot is of converted AOBR boyz.

The shot of three is three orks i built for the 3rd ed codex to be used as Lootas with sniper rifles from beakie scouts but i figure ill use them as Shoota Boyz now.

There are a few boyz from the "16 strong, pre accessories sprue" box as well but i dint take any separate pics of those, they are in the big group pic.

White primer
armypainter strong tone
boltgun drybrush for metals
green ink for skin
base colours on the clothes and blue details
armypainter soft tone mixed with dark tone over cloth and weapons

I thinking im going to repaint the base edges darkish brown some day, will have to do it for my whole army.

I like the skin tone! gives them a very dark and dirty feel, good work!

"You are like a son and together we have all but conquered the galaxy. Now the time has come for me to retire to Terra. My work as a soldier is done and now passes to you for I have great tasks to perform in my earthly sanctum. I name you Warmaster and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from mine own mouth. But words of caution I have for you for your brother Primarchs are strong of will, of thought and of action.

They are awesome! Perfect balance between detail and dirtyness(). Only thing I dislike about them is the green base trim...

I agree about the green base trim. The skin tone looks so good and dirty with the dipping method that the trim shouldn't also look inked, and I think the models would look a lot better without it.

Thanks guys!

I base rims will be browned down soonish.

These arent dipped tho, the strong tone and soft tone are inks.

I bought one of those dipping jars (they are called Quickshade) before i took my hobby hiatus several years ago but i never got round to using it, sold it unopened to a gaming club that wanted to try it for speed painting experminents.

Welcome back to the painting table after such a long absence I really like the subdued tones you've used. It gives them a dirty yet unifying look. Also, the use of stikkbombs as silencers and the grot-sized stikkbombs as scopes is brilliant. I've never seen that done before. Very cool! When you get more finished, please post more pics.
