Hello everyone, with the anouncement of a Fantasy Escalation League at my
FLGS I have decided to return to my old and favorite army: The Wood Elves! However with a modeling twist, involving the Thunderwolf Cavalry and Fenrisian Wolves from the Space Wolves range. I have considered doing my wood elves based on the fact that they are one of the front line armies that defend Athel Loren during the winter or fall (have not decided yet) when the forest is at its lowest
eb or is starting to lose its power and in regards to those models was considering running a wolf themed wood elf army. That and not to mention, feel that a white and green or burnt orange and crimson colored Wood Elf army would look pretty amazing, especially with camouflaged cloaks!
In the sense that the trees are in slumber during winter or going that way during the fall my Kindred has befriended the wolves of both Athel Loren and the Grey Mountains more so then the others. During the winter the Claws Kindred and the wolves work together to protect their borders and rely on the wolves more then the tree spirits. That being said however I will be using the new Shadow Warrior models as my Glade Guard since I love the new models, and I think a whole army of them would look pretty bad ass. Some modeling Ideas would include:
-Use Fell Wargs from the
LOTR miniature range Dryads.
-Fenrisian Wolves from
40k as Treekin.
-Thunderwolf Cav as my Treeman, would model an Elf Character on top (thinking new Loremaster upper body) to represent the ability to use Tree Singing and strangle root.
-Shadow Warriors as Glade Guard, either Ellyrian Reavers or Shadow Warrior/Glade Rider kit bash for Glade Riders. Just an idea but I just love the Shadow Warrior models, Glade Guard models are still amazing though so its up for debate.
Just wanted to see what you guys thought and what your reactions would be or even concerns when fighting this army, also the big questions: Winter or Fall Themed? And Shadow Warriors as Glade Guard or just standard Glade Guard? And as usual thanks for your replies and comments!
