Hi all,

I just posted these on my project blog, but I figure it's nice to put something in the Showcase every once in a while:

- Enjoy!

I'd never thought of using .gifs!

Beautiful models beautifully painted, and I especially like the contrast between the cold harsh blues, greys and whites and the heat of the plasma weapons!

Yeah, gifs are something of a trend going on right now, but they are also perfect for showing three-dimensional miniatures!

They are simply stunning. The gifs are a really neat idea too!

Also took the liberty of having a look at your blog. Simply fantastic work all throughout that thread. Can't believe I've missed it until now!

I recommend checking out the main blog for any other Dakkanauts that haven't witnessed its glory.

Thanks for all the kind words! Photographing them is a lot of fun for me (and something to remember the models by), so I kind of go nutty with it all.

@Medium of Death: Thanks for the ups! The more fans the merrier! Maybe at some point I'll just start pointing a cheap camera at my worktable and post progress more often -- that would probably encourage me to try out some wilder ideas.

Am I the only one to find the GIFs a little jerky, epilepsy inducing and annoying?
By the time i've focused on a certain detail/technique that i'm interested in the image is snapped away and my eyes have to start tracking again looking for it.
Perhaps a complete 360 degree view would work better and seem more smooth?

Group GIF:There's just way too much to look at in too short a space of time in the group pic.
GIFs 2 and 3: Having the single pics spinning in different directions next to each other is pretty jarring too they work better for me when I cover one up with my hand.
Having all three gifs on the screen at the same time just gives me a migrane!

I like the painting and the quality of photos is great too maybe just try to thinking about the layout of your posts a little more?
Try spacing the gifs from each other with text stills or just include one per post?

I don't want to sound harsh just some friendly feedback.
It's refreshing to see a someone trying something new. Good job.

@Alex: It's great to have some feedback! I was a little concerned with all the gifs so close together -- I'm glad someone confirmed my doubts, LOL. Truth be told, these are also some of my most "figdity" gifs of late since my usual setup started malfunctioning in a way. The old setup had a motor spinning the lazy susan at a snail's pace, and it was very consistent, so there was hardly any jiggling at all, and there were also many more frames in the animation (and a complete rotation, "since I could set it and forget it"). It's a very tentative photo setup.

I try to include still images with all the gifs I put out for those not fans of the 'animations', but this time I skimped a little. Normally I'd space them out more and include stills between each of the rotations (as you'd see on my project blog).

I've been thinking about presentation a lot, and your tips are very appreciated.

Here's a compilation I just threw together -- a bit more traditional

Ah, Now that's more like it. :fetches camomile tea: Cheers.
Would it be possible to create a GIF which freezes as the mouse cursor is moved over it? That'd be neat.

Been eyeing your stuff and those elysians are awesome. You pretty much convinced me to paint up a platoon of elysians myself using your scheme but for blue plasma effects instead of yellow.
