My friends, in my enthusiasm to prepare for another realspace raid I may have been a bit overzealous. One thing leads to another, and where I needed 2000 points of men, my summons brought forth around 2,300. Perhaps you could help me sort out where I should cut down?

My kabal is presently gearing up for marine hunting. Any other advice from more seasoned veterans will be well recieved.

(and all he entails)

Ghost plate, Shadow Field, Soul Trap
Huskblade, Venom Blade

My plan is to lean on Vect to make sure I have initiative and then to completely shred anything on the board in the first couple turns. Vect and the Archon will boat up with the two Incubi venoms, with the other pair just going marine hunting. Ravagers are left with lances rather than disintingrators, as I figure I have plenty of anti-infantry dakka already, though I may change my mind.

As I said though - I was a tad overzealous in my list building. So Where do I cut down? The obvious place is to drop the second HQ and his retinue, but I fear that having only one five-man melee team (now matter how elite) is asking to have the wiped off the board immediately. Maybe I'm overthinking.

Thanks in advance.

First off drop Dark Lances on the Warriors, Warriors don't want Dark Lances ever. A DL means if you shoot it as a vehicle your wasting your poison shots, drop these down to splinter cannons. You can also drop flicker fields if you play in a Tau-less environment because with Vect you have a 75% to go first, and once your moving you get a 5+ jink anyhow. You really should drop the Incubi, they are too expensive for to little gain unless you KNOW you will be fighting lots of Terminators. Usually the best entourage for Vect are bloodbrides in a Raider, because honestly you don't even need any extra anti-MEQ when Vect on the charge will kill about 5 guys. You could maybe drop down one of your warrior raiders to be a wych raider, people tell you they suck but I still like them. The wyches can turbo boost with the Bloodbrides to mean at least one of them will get in, and if the wyches have haywires they become a massive threat to vehicles.

I completely agree with the last poster that the incubi don't cut it. The best retinue for either HQ is either 9 bloodbrides or 9 wyches.

You're right the best place to start cutting is one of the HQs. The remaining one should go with 9 wyches (or 9 bloodbrides) if you have enough scoring units.

Next the raiders are too expensive. They are very very fragile so you don't wand to invest too many points in them. Keep splinter racks if you are going for gunboats, but the rest can be lost. You could keep nightshields if you really like them.

I second the dropping of warrior lances for splinter cannons.

With a 2nd HQ slot free consider a haemonculus to join a large wrack squad to give you a second assault unit and more durable troop unit, plus liquifiers are good against marines.

To get the venoms you lost from the Incubi back in (as they are very good) you can use either units of 5 warriors with blaster (as some of your warriors may have given their raider to wyches or wracks), but I like wyches with haywire grenades.

Talking of haywire granades, the trueborn should have them. For the bargain of 2 pts each they make killing vehicles childs play once you get in assault range. If you're short on points I would even suggest losing a blaster from a warrior squad to leave you with only 1 more point to find to give all 8 trueborn haywire grenades.
