Having read 'Baneblade' several times, I decided to take the plunge after 5 years and start an IG army (I'd always liked them but never got round to it). Seen as I'd just finished Baneblade, I decided the red and white Paragon colour scheme would work really well, plus the army seemed really cool. So, armed with 30 guardsmen, a second hand LRBT and a Command Squad, plus some random extras from my friends, I got to work.

Now I'll be honest, my painting is not the best. I try, but sometimes it just won't happen, my Ork army is a testament to that. So I kept it simple; red armour, white clothes, blue lasgun casings... Until I read Baneblade again, and realised that PURPLE and white are the Paragon colours

So I've been slowly repainting my army, with purple armour instead of red. The red is now on my officers and sergeants (vermillion red is the colour of the dress robes).

I'll be putting up a few of the models tomorrow. Be warned; those who love superbly painted models will be a tad disappointed, but there are some cool posings and kitbashes IMO.

Sounds interesting, and I must say, I love the Baneblade novel, and Guy Haley's work in general.

However, and not said to course a melt down, I believe the dress uniform of the Paragonians was purple and white, however, their campaign uniforms were camouflaged to their theatre of operations, like most Imperial Guard regiments. I remember one bit in the book about the Paragonians uniforms being brown and sand coloured.

However, saying that, it's your army. Crack in.

I'm sure it said purple and white bunting, the colours of Paragon, and the men in vermillion dress robes... Anyway, I'll put up some red and some purple guardsmen, see which goes down better so I can use it later

First is 2 guardsmen with the 2 trial colour schemes, some feedback on which works better would be nice

Ok 2nd update.
This is a medic from my PCS, all of which are kneeling (I'll post them up as I finish). He's not painted, but the Commander is and I'll post her up when she's ready. So, for now, the medic.

Anyway, not had time for much today so all I've got is a finished guardsman and the CCS commander!

On another note, many of my officers (and a few guardsmen) have legs drawn from the WHFB HE archers kit, for that regal look

I'm working on it! These things are expensive you know. I will get there (eventually) and make it a proper army of Paragon

My friend is a SM player so maybe I can convince him to go blood ravens idk. But I'll bear your advice in mind, for now though I'll just get my current guard up to a decent(ish) standard

Well, another day another update. Not much right now, just the 2 standard bearers from my PCS. (Kneeling) and CCS. (Marching)

So I've taken a break from my guardsmen for a while. But, fear not, I started work on my LRBT instead!

It's an Exterminator with 3 HBs, it's second hand so I don't have any alternative weapons. That's also why there's a few patchwork bits right now, and no track units

Ok, so... Last update this week. I put the unpainted version of my medic up earlier in the thread... Well now he's finished!

Actually he probably needs a decent touch-up, cameras are really exposing

The first is my CCS Vox Caster, nothing special by way of conversion.
The second is a Priest Kit-Bash, using a Catachan model with the head from the Cadian Command frame, not painted yet though

Well, sort of. I haven't got anything new painted. But, I came into the possession of a few more guardsmen (£1 a model works for me). Obviously they still need a repaint, but I thought I'd share the news.

You might want to strip the paint from those fellas before you painted them. Whoever you brought them off probably has all the hand-eye coordination of a lettuce.

Point still stands, there's some guides on stripping paint here on Dakka.
In addition, if you have a file, file the tops of the lasguns smooth because I tried to trim them down to make shotguns. It didn't work.

I like the pose on the medic.

No file unfortunately, I'll see how my Plastic Cutters do. I'll also see how the non-strip-paint works, then if it looks gak I'll look at stripping.
