So am trying to save some money here and not buy Broadsides for $50 a pop. I need to make 3 of them out of XV8 Crisis suits. So far all I have really gotten to doing is taking all of the missile pods I have (I have lots of bits), and then gluing them back to back. I am making this represent the Broadsides large missile pods. I will attach a set of two to each side (of the arms) of a Crisis suit. I have no problem buying more bits. With that in mind, how can I make the Crisis suits look more like Broadsides? I think I will get new legs for them (broadside legs) because the Crisis suit legs are partially uncovered with armor. If I could get some more ideas that would be great! If you have pics, please post them.

Young one, once upon a time Broadsides WERE Crisis Suits with extra bits tacked on, so you pretty much don't have to do anything else.

Really! That helps me a lot. So I don't really need to do much at all then. Do you know the base size though on the new Broadsides? Is it 40mm or 60mm. I think its 60mm but idk. Help?

Crisis suits are a tad small so could hide a lot of places the current broadsides couldn't. Because they're shorter and can't see over as much stuff it does cut both ways though.

The current broadsides are indeed on 60mm bases and unless you bulk up a crisis suit a bit it looks kind of silly on such a big base. Could try using plasticard to make extra armour or some such. The old pewter kit to make broadsides based on crisis suits also covered up the jet pack thrusters as they didn't have them (same as now). I would recommend this as well.

One guy I know swapped his old crisis based broadsides to 60mm bases and bulked them up with all sorts of extra bits. They really look the part and at a glance you wouldn't guess they are based on crisis suits.

This is what the old broasides looked like:

With the new Codex, Broadsides have about double volume and much larger size, so now using Crisis SUits as Broadsides is close to using Stealth Suits as Crisis Suits, as case of modelling to your advantage (Crisis Suit yellow, Broadside to the right):

I might suggest looking for Paulson Games to provide you with excellent stand ins for High-Yield Missile Pods and Heavy Railguns.

There have been a few ways demonstrated to bulk up a crisis suit, with parts from underused items like flamethrowers for the legs and additional chest armour, burst cannon bits for the head and Firewarrior/Stealthsuit shoulder pads for extra armour here and there.

www.advancedtautactica.com has a number of such conversions displayed and some how to guides.

As for modeling for advantage, reducing the size of the model provides a cover save bonus for a model with a 2+ save already while making it harder for it to see targets for its heavy weapons. I think arguably your modeling for disadvantage at that point. Still a raised base should compensate for that.

I really appreciate all of your support. I will check some stuff out and then I start modeling.

I'll make sure to post pics once I finish!

If you shoulder mount the bigger launchers that should provide sufficient height. The other main bit is to convert out the jetpack.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Ok thanks for the help. I will try these out. Do you have any suggestions on how I could convert out out the jetpack and then add some extra bulk to it? Also I found some things for the high yield missile pods thanks to Jefffar. I want to get some of the shoulder mounted launchers, bit I don't know how to beef up the shoulders so they would fit. Suggestions? And how do I beef up the body/leg armor in general?
