I'm looking to convert some fiends (I dislike the GW model) and am thinking of using a Legion of Everblight Afflictor for a starting point. Does anyone know if this would be approximate size?

I'm thinking the night lurkers would be better for fiends than those.

To actually answer your question, yes, they will be in the ball park as they have the same base size. Their bulk is slightly higher though, so from your own perspective, they will be marginally tougher to find cover for in game.

I share your dislike of the Fiend model, I went this way...

They're OOP Rackham models, still cost me less than buying New Fiends from GW!

I think almost anything is cheaper than buying the Fiends from GW sadly...
I think I'm going to order a few of the afflictor's and give them some green stuff love and trim them a bit to have more of a ragged look
And those look amazing! Where did you get them?

Not sure about the afflcitor - have you looked at the teraph
http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/legion-of-everblight/warbeasts/teraph

that might be a more suitable hound/fiend like creature.

azreal13 - I' have liked some of those for Khorn Flesh-hounds - sadly since Rackham went under their stuff is never easy to get (esp in the smaller UK market). I think Cool-mini picked up the licence for some of hteir stuff but put a VERY high price tag on it when they do cast some because its only small scale casting (I seem to recall some £300 odd dragon I think).

They're Tigers Of Dirz form Confrontation. Like I said, they've been OOP for a while now, but they can still be nabbed on eBay and the other usual sources of such stuff.

Were going to originally be Flesh Hounds, but when they got buffed in the new book, I decided I wanted more than 5, but there was no way I could likely afford or source another 15. I was still determined to work them in somewhere and Fiends seemed to be the best fit aesthetically, and once they were painted, I was really glad I went that direction with them.

I feel your pain, I believe the ToD were wave 1 or otherwise very early, as I've even wandered through the hive of Scum and Villainy that is the recasting scene to no avail, as I guess if the originals can't be obtained by those people, then they can reproduce them!

I actually really like that model too... Hmm, more choices.

For Flesh Hounds I used the Vampire Counts Dire Hounds to great success

I went with Fenrisian Wolves, as my juggernaut herald I use (or will use once he's done) is one of the Ysians from Darklands, so the whole unit is kind of themed along a hunt master and his hounds, so the slightly more dog like appearance of the Fenris Wolves, with appropriate red paint job, works for me.

This chap..

I've painted him with red skin and black and brass armour, and the skull fitted to the horse's head helps give the right vibe for what I was after. (Grew up with the Robin Of Sherwood TV series back in the 80s, still like the slightly dark, Celtic atmosphere that it had)

Nice choice BBseals! I didn't like those wolves though, a bit too dessicated for my liking (though if I'd gone with a really strong nurgle theme they'd be ideal as "nurgle flesh hounds").

I have been grabbing up the metal fiends and hounds off ebay - not exactly cheap but I do still like both models but don't want to work with finecast if I can avoid it (its not so much the iffy nature of if it cases right as that can be replaced - its the annoying cleaning; especially those odd raised areas of flash that appear and are a nightmare to clean off without chipping some part of the detail).

While I'm not a huge fan of the wolves myself (I'm a zombie fan, undead puppies sounded like a plan) god damn is that jugger lord beautiful. You should post some pics when it's finished!

And I got the advice from a games workshop in London, ON for the dire hounds after trying to pick up the chaos warhounds. The zombies just looked so much better. Plus I'll be damned before I pay $60 for 5 flesh hounds vs 20 dire hounds for the same price

I can't decide if the fiends or furies are the worst daemon models.
