oo that's pretty
I would say, more contrast on the face, darker shadows and the like, though I'm not familiar with the level of detail on the sculpt

WAAAAAAAAAGH!!

I think the blue one is the more interesting of the two as far as colors and such go. The brown one still looks cool, too, though. I guess it depends on what you're going for... the blue is very strong, kind of an electric blue or something, which would really pop on the table. I'm not familiar with the model or where it comes from, but it seems to me like the blue would say more of an other worldly ethereal feel but the brown seems more like it came from below the ground or is of the earth kind of thing. So, depending on the look you're going for, I suppose.

I like the brown one much better than the blue. I know it's silly to say about a fantasy game but the brown one has a more "realistic" look than the blue one.

Yeah, that. The skin color one looks like some wizard twisted by time and arcane power. The blue one... I don't know what it's supposed to be. Like a vampire auditioning for the blue man group? Why would he even be that color?

Fantasy has to have a certain amount of credibility to be fantastic. Go with the more realistic option.

I dare say that the skin coloured one looks the best, although the blue one looks very good too, although I resembels more a vampyric smurf more than anything else.

One more vote for the second scheme. The blue is very striking, but it doesn't suit the model as well as the earthy flesh tones (which also have greater contrast, which helps accentuate the sculpting). Keep the first method in mind, though, if you ever have call to paint up daemons of Tzeentch - the electric blue with pink and black fades would be perfect for them.

I personally like the blue one. I think it looks a bit cartoony, but that can be cool. Blue makes him look more chaotic/demony. Also kida reminds me of the show Gargoyles.

The brown one is playin it safe. If that's what you want go for it. I always think a more striking model is nice though.

The blue one is more original and more striking: it will definitely contrast more with the rest of the army. I actually like it.
Although the blue feels somewhat...demonic.

The brown one seems to be more natural and more bat-like.
I prefer the brown as it makes me think more of "undead things in the night". The red makes it a bit more aggressive too.

I prefer the second more natural looking one.

My thoughts? Keep layering the blue with lighter highlights so that it looks a bit more like a pale vampiric blue then do the wings red like the second model for striking contrast.

I like the second one the best. I do like the blue one but the wings would need to be red/orange for contrast as the above poster recomended.

Nice work.

They are both done well, but for VC and vargheists the earth tone and red works much better.

The brown is certainly more traditional and looks more "correct", but the blue actually looks scarier to me; it looks kind of "unearthly" and spectral, without going all the way to the typical "ghost" colour scheme. Plus it's more interesting and colourful on the tabletop. I say if you want him to be a centrepiece to your army, paint him blue.

I like the blue, because it's not the traditional take but still looks fantastic. It would make for an original army.
