Hey all!
I've decided to try my hand at Orks after having put 40k on the shelf for a while. I want to play a supa fast army that looks cool and I thought nothing is cooler than Irondog Studios Warboss on Akira bike. http://www.irondogstudios.com/images/akiraboss/mek_akiraboss.html
I decided to try my hand at it using my Black Reach orks.
I watched Akira (on VHS), "it even has computer-controlled, anti-lock brakes! Twelve thousand RPMs!"
"That bike was specially designed for me, it's too much for a kid like you..."
....ahh memories. I dug through my Akira graphic novels for reference pics and started dremmeling a deffkopta. My AoBR Warboss was already painted and I agonized over cutting him apart, but I decided to go ahead rather than wait. Sigh...
Here's my result;

Kila Kan-eata needs paint, but my big dilemma is how to base him. My intention was to have him pulling a tight turn while dragging his power klaw on the ground as a brake but lying low on that side obscures some cool details so I thought maybe I should mount him doing a wheelie?

He stands up on the wheels with out a base so maybe I shouldn't base him at all?

Let me know what you think...

He needs to be based according to the modern rules, but I think you should go for a minor wheelie, only a little bit off the ground.

You could stick him on a custom oval base if you want him to be in the leaning position. Bases just can't be smaller than their original size, nothing says you can't get a bike base and widen the sides some.

Yeah, I like the oval base. Great conversion though.

Thanks! Here's a size comparison to my Dark Angels Ravenwing biker. With the DA I used lean to group each squad. Every member of the squad leans the same direction for easier squad identification on the table.

He should actually go on a base like the forge world biker boss as he is the official model at this time. Forge world biker boss base is 40mm round base extended to be 100mm long.

Neat design! You probably need dashboard guns on a bike like that.
