This is my latest project, which I have been working on over Christmas. A magnetised Space Marine Captain / Chapter Master for the 19th Legion, the Raven Guard.

I've dubbed him "Edithae" after the Somali Crow/Dwarf Raven, Corvus Edithae.

Note that the painting is still WIP.

The coolest thing about the magnetisation is how posable it is.

The main piece.

Spoiler:

The various options.

Spoiler:

Power Fist and Lightning Claw.

Spoiler:

Dual Lightning Claws (can be Counts As Shrike).

Spoiler:

Power Sword and Plasma Pistol.

Spoiler:

Power Axe and Grav Pistol.

Spoiler:

Chainsword and Bolt Pistol.

Spoiler:

Relic Blade/Burning Blade and Storm Shield/Shield Eternal.

Spoiler:

Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield/Shield Eternal.

Spoiler:

The base model was a Shadow Captain Korvydae from Forgeworld.

Most of the weapons came from the new plastic Vanguard Veterans.

However, the Power Fist, the plasma pistol and the bionic arm holding it came from Forgeworld.

The head came from Anvil Industry - second from the left - chosen because of its resemblence to the Raven Guard Primarch, Corax.

Spoiler:

The magnets also came from Anvil Industry.

That looks great you've really gone to town on the options and the skin tone is right for the Raven Guard.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I used a pretty simple scheme for the skin.

I basecoated with Space Wolves Grey, washed it heavily with Ogryn Flesh, highlighted with Space Wolves Grey again then did a thin extreme highlight with Skull White. As a Chapter Master/Captain, Edithae is one of the oldest members of the Chapter, hence the white highlights.

My younger Raven Guard use a different scheme, Fortress Grey washed with Ogryn Flesh then highlighted with Fortress Grey again. No white highlight.

The Raven Guard are described in the fluff as turning albino with black hair and eyes as they age due to a side effect of their Primarch's geneseed (Corax was albino).

My next 40K project (after I finish a LOTR Arnor army for a tournament in April) will be a Vanguard Veteran squad (new plastic box) to use as bodyguards for Edithae. They'll be magnetised too so the weapons will be interchangeable.
