So here is the beginning of me converting a dreadnought into a deff dread! I started by replacing the las cannon with two big shootas, and the space marine in the center compartment with a grot flyin model from a burna bomba (who looks like he's driving the dread perfectly!) my next is making tons of boss poles covered in crux terminatus, as well as a grinning skull in the front! I'll post a finished here as well as update as he comes along! I'll also post in the finished section when done. Input, advice, and any crafting experience is appreciated! Also, I know an ork drives a deff dread, I just like the way the grot looks =]

Good idea, but it can use a little more Orkyness.

Aditional rivited replacement armor plating.
The grinning skull is a good idea.
Tusks, barbs and blade's / chain ccw could also be added...

Death dreads have two close combat arms and 2 weapons normaly..
So some creative thinking can be applied.....

With the current Deff Dread model, a typical Dreadnought is sizewise more close to the killa can, which is incidentelly piloted by a grot, not an ork.

So I'd rather use it as a killa can. Change the CCW though, that powerfist is really unorky.

I love ork conversions and I can't wait to see the updates! But, I would suggest putting a good ole "Waaagh" painted over the imperial scriptures.

So I took all of your advice and made it Orky!! Also, I'm waiting for my skull sprues to come in as wel as another claw! Whatcha think! I also named it "thrakas Dakka" it's not supposed to be pretty just Orky!

I would recommend some orky glyph plates over the top of the fancy work on the front sides of the torso. And spikes on the power fist.


It's a good start, though. The pilot is perfect

I like how it looked like it was looted, remember to keep the dreadnought look.
