So I did all three of these yesterday because I just cant play with unpainted models. From the moment I saw the Crone I knew I wanted a different head and an elongated body, the basic one looks too much like a fat bumblebee to me.

Head is a Harpy head scalped with a Mawloc top, and the tail is also from that kit and I think the results look a lot more nasty and rattler like, so it deserves the strength 8 vector.

Haruspex I got because I just like the model, despite it being a lackluster fighter.

I dislike the Exocrine severely, but its stats are good enough that Im not sure Id ever take my old Tyrannofex over it. So I actually like this conversion a lot, because it looks like the weapon is so massive it has to ground it and then aim it like a cannon (Plus I prefer the 5th edition Tyrannofex artwork, which I think this better resembles) Its a pair of Harpy arms and the exocrine cannon. I plan on going back and doing touchups later this week, especially on the wings to blend them.

Enjoy! (Took about 8 hours yesterday after assembling them all on Saturday btw, it was rough!)

I'm with this guy. If more conversions (and painting) like this come with the new codex, then I might finally enjoy all the inevitable 'nids posts.

Nice work! I picked up the Haruspex/Exocrine model. I ended up magnetizing it as I am sure as hell not paying for another one.

I need to get into gear and finish painting my nids so I can field them!

Hey thanks everyone. Am I the only one really bothered by the stock Crone model?

Outstanding!

Love the Crone!! The Mawlock bits and longer tail looks proportioned and gives that "Oh crap, here it comes!" feel to it with all the tenticalids(?) riding along ready to leap off of it.

Get your models on the table and looking good!

Lovin' it all.

I see that 5th Tentaclid you snuck in there, though! NO EXTRA SHOT FOR YOU.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you mounted the Crone 90 degrees off of the way most people mount their flyers? Is it more stable that way, or just an aesthetic choice?

I don't have any problems with the stock Crone, other than it not really having enough spikes to justify the devastating vector strike. A fat bumblebee is totally badass.

It's probably a gaming choice.
You can gain inches of range this way.

Thanks for the love everyone.

About the base: I actually just wanted to try it, I havent committed to the base yet. She didnt tip over at all yesterday in a large game so its stable enough. I mounted our latest Riptide and Mawloc this way as well, not for any advantageous reasons, just boredom.
