My Chaos realm of nightmares & creation.

I have been getting into commission painting over the past couple of years,
This will be my project log for both my personal projects and of my commissioned projects,

Personal Projects:

The XVIIth Legio: Word Bearers.
- Known Maelstrom Traitor Legion active within the solar warp storm under Kor Phaeron
- Deamons of the Maelstrom - Powerful Daemonic Horde Summoned by the Forbidden Dark Rituals of the Word Bearers Legion

The Oath-Sworn:
A group of the 4 most powerful Mono-God Lords of the Maelstrom and their forces
- Chaos Marine collective forces of The Big 4 Chaos gods

Veterans of the Badab War:
- Forces of Huron Blackheart.
- Astral Claw Pirates.
- Badab Traitor Guard - Traitor Guard - Veterans of the Badab war

The Unforgiven:
Fallen Angels pirate force.
- not sure on the paint scheme or theme for these yet, I'm thinking to paint them up as Guardians of the Covenant DA chapter....but Evil.
- As Fallen Angels commonly pose as loyalist DA forces or their successor chapters.
- And this will work in nicely with both the word bearers & the Astral claws schemes.

Commission Side project for a good friend (since we will be combining our apocalypse forces a fair bit)
The XVIth Legio: Large Black Legion Forces based within the Maelstrom (Brazen Sons of Horus paint scheme)
- Large Black Legion forces stationed within the Maelstrom to oversee the sectors Black Crusades within the solar warp storm.


Commission Projects:

THE INVASION OF HIVE FLEET SLURM
Come to devour our world with their HIGHLY Addictive Slurm!
This is a LARGE Commissioned Army done up in a thick and Slimy colour scheme and theme of my own creation...
*Well Ahem* the theme is of course blatantly taken from the Awesome Sci-Fi Pop Culture cartoon Futurama

Here's some preview photo's of works in progress,
First up is a pair of Forgefiends / Maulerfiends for the Brazen Black Legion army.
Happy with how these are turning out, still have more detail work to do on the last one, but I am happy how he has turned out so far.

Next up is shots of Hive Fleet SLURM
- still working out the kinks in the basing with the Slurm / Slime effects, I like how the genestealers Slurm turned out.
The Carnifexes base still needs more attention as I feel it turned out too dark.

Also my set of miniataire Ghost Tint paints arrived today so looking forward to testing them out
Have TWO warhounds to build and paint up now as well, one in the Brazen Legion colours & the other in my own word bearers.

These just arrived and have been installed in the garage of a good friend of mine, So I now have full access to these
He also has these machines as well:
Laser cutter / 3D Printer and A0 Plotter & Printer.

Pictured: A Tornado CNC cutter, can cut steel sheet & Wood

I'm thinking awesome Terrain boards?
And some new laser cut acrylic paint racks?

Hi mate, this is incredible work- I can see why you get commissioned to paint! I'm a futurama fan too, so I like that nod for the tyranids, but the maulerfiend and forgefiend win it for me, I've never seen such fine quality molten lava effects before.

Possible reason for no comments is the name of your blog- it doesn't make clear what you're working on, or even if it's 40k. I only clicked on it because I saw that it was a new blog, and what a surprise! Excellent work.

The photo's don't do justice to the forgefiends, (low quality iphone) I'm looking forward to taking some proper photo's of them with a good camera & light box set-up.

I'll be finishing the freehands and weathering on the 2nd one soon, and then getting the 1st one back from the client so I can get some decent pictures taken of the pair together soon.

Have re-named the P-LOG to make the subject clearer - thanks for the suggestion.

I find that the Futurama theme for Hive Fleet SLURM - Adds that extra bit of much needed flavour to the Tyranid race.... I just need to get the liquid basing effects to be the way I want them.

My Airbrushes and painting desk have been set-up again so expect some updates soon.

Slaving away at freehand Lava effects, wish me luck : )

Mauler / Forgefiend #2 is almost done, hoping to post up some nice pics tomorrow since a mate is coming round with a good camera set up.

I just wish most of my finished mini's were on-hand for the photo shoot, instead of being far away with clients.

@ -Cal- : Thanks for the comments, Hive Fleet SLURM pics will be coming soon...So watch this space.

I would add a thin bit of green stuff to the vents on the front/back of the Carnifex carapace, they leave such a nasty separation line that really sticks out.

Finally some better pictures : )

I did more on the forgefiend, still not quite finished though - need to do more freehand cracks on the Armour (like on the first forgefiend in the earlier posts above)
Some more weathering and the lava and base needs a bit more work still as well.

Slurm Nids are coming along nicely, got a LOT of them to do, ain't horde armies fun :Ｄ

And some old Chaos works of mine, excuse the dust... it felt wrong to give the nurgle marines a bath.

Couldn't find up the champion / chosen models chaos Shield unfortunately, so his right hand is un-armed untill it shows up somewhere in the warp.

Spent a lot of time on the freehand and weathering on his shoulder pad as a test for more detailed character models.

The thousand Son is a test model for a planned Rubric squad of the whole ghosts in armour theme. The project was shelved until better thousand sons parts came out, but now with all the maxmini parts out there, and rumored new chaos marine / chosen box set - this will be back on the table again, I want to improve the ghostly whisps of the lower torso's again though, as I should be able to do better now.

Thanks, its not finished yet on most of them either, will be pouring green dyed clear resin onto all of the bases for that proper liquid slime / toxic ooze effect.

As to why its showing me as both Australian & USA... I have no idea , I did make these last two posts on my phone so thy could be why.

I am Australian and pay for the privilege of GW Australian retail prices

Better view of the lava base, not quite happy with it yet so a bit more to go yet to get it to where I want.
