I am trying to decide on color schemes. My primary troops are going to be plague marines, but I don't care for the traditional green muck. So, I was thinking of doing something like what is show here. This would also be for the lord that I use to bring the PMs as troops. Do I have to actually paint the Lord with the mark of nurgle? Do I have to paint the PMs green?

My primary concern is if I go to a tournament and someone decides to enforce rules that I am currently ignorant of, like you have to physically mark your chaos units if claiming a mark, or that certain units have to be certain colors (if they are claiming to be a certain unit type, as opposed to another).

The attached picture is how I want to paint my Lord and my PMs.

Yeah that looks good for a plague army scheme IMO, gritty and kind of filthy looking. Not all armies of Nurgle are green and bloated.

I think that as long as you son't paint khornate, slaaneshi or tzeenchian symbols on them your set.

This hobby is about expressing your own creativity!

You could even paint them in pastel colours with hipster glasses and scarfs and declare that they are part of the hipster plague that is sweeping the world :p

Yeah, pretty much anything filthy is legit for Nurgle boys.

There is no such rule in the books. You can paint your army rainbow colours if you want. As long as your opponent is aware of what army and what chapter/etc of said army (including marks, etc) you are playing then all is well.

That said, not being a fan of Chaos generally that pic you have there looks like a good one to me! I hate the slime green chaos as well.
