After receiving my first huge batch of minis, i finally got around to painting the first unit last week. Four Purple Sharks and here are the results:

Enjoy,

P.S.: The usual preview (as always more pictures, including the nose art, on the blog):

Nice stuff! I have to finish assembling mine! How did you find assembling the pilots?

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

THX! Assembly was a mixed bag on these. I found the handlebars did not fit the cockpits too well in that the locator hole was big and allowed various different placements. Initially I did not think this was too bad since it allowed some greater variety, but it proved a hassle.
I painted the sharks and models separately, simply because I wanted to "prime" the sharks aluminum and in my experience paint does not always still too well to that.
Now during assembly I made small markings to the lower legs of the riders and to the (later obscured) parts of the seats to know which rider was assembled to fit which handlebar. I had to find that even a little paint was enough to prevent the rider from fitting properly into its locator hole and ended up cutting off the tabs after painting. This intern jinxed up the fit enough that I had to shuffle the riders around again to find a good fit.

So in retrospect I would either assemble them completely before painting (although some parts of the rider would be extremely hard to reach that way, making it my least preferred option) or cut the taps off before painting.

If you are going to mate rider and Shark after painting, definitely give the riders a good strong coat of varnish (or two). Assembly can be a bit rougher and you would not want to rub the paint off the riders during that!

Hmm, I may just attach everything first and paint them as one. I had them dry fit but those handlebars really are killers.

Thanks for the tips!

Did you find issues fitting your sharks together? Mine have large gaps.

Mine too, especially at the nose.

They look great! Good choice of colors and the nose art is a nice touch.

I remember the old warzone models (still have the old rulebooks and promosheets) and what I'm seeing so far is much like yours. Models that nicely update the old versions but are immediately recognizable as the original subject matter.

Thanks Eilif!

I feel the same about the models.
