Hey all. I keep getting told that my Contemptor Mortis is now BS 4 not BS 5. I have Imperial Armor Apoc 2nd edition which says it is BS 5 and can not find any FAQ that nerfs it.,

Can anyone help me find this mythical rule?

I think it may be a confusion with the Mortis Dreadnought (great naming structure forge world!) which is a Dark Angles only unit that is now BS4 but is allot cheaper than the Contemptor Mortis.

In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Kk, he has IAA 2nd ed, which is out of date due to the release of IAA. I'm unaware if IA2 2nd ed has the rules, if it does it most likely would be the same as the latest IAA.

Thanks. It is very hard to prove a negative. I have IA second edition, and I have FAQ, but because I can't find the so called nerf (a mistake which BOLS has repeated in there recent article on FW units). I keep getting challenged in games.

Shortly after GW released the new Apocalypse rules, FW re-released IA Apocalypse. Per the latest IA Apocalypse, the Mortis is BS4. If IA2 second ed changed it back to BS5, then I am unaware of the change.

HAppy are you 100% sure we are talking about the Contemtpor Mortis as opposed to the regluar Mortis dreadnought? The reg Mortis is BS4, it is also 50pts cheaper than a Contemptor.

Imperial Armor Apoc 2nd edition def has the Contemptor at BS5.

FW really needs to work on there naming structure.

Adepticon has Imperial Armour Vol. 2 - 2nd Edition listed as the most current rules.

Awesomely, for both the Mortis Contemptor Dread and the Cont. Mortis.

Just wanted to make sure everyone's looking at the right set of rules - with FW it's difficult to know which book is most current.

I am looking at IA Apocalypse right now. SM Contemptor-Mortis Patten Dreadnought, points 155, BS4.

I realize that IA2 (2nd ed) is more recent. What I don't know (since I don't own it) is if that stats changed (again) for the mortis or contrmptor-mortis.

Did FW change the stats from IA Apocalypse, or ate they the same in IA2? That's the question. The OP mentioned IA Apocalypse second ed, which is out-dated.

Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition actually came out in 2011. The only valid one as of now is simply called "Imperial Armour - Apocalypse."

Imperial Armour Apocalypse was released in August 2013 as a replacement to the Second Edition one.

A good way to see this is go on the forge world website. They no longer sell the Second Edition, only the newest book.

And this new book does say that the contemptor-mortis dreadnought is now only BS 4.

Re-read his first post. Third sentence, "I have imperial armour apocalypse second edition ".

Sorry. I must've misread.
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/IMPERIAL_ARMOUR_VOLUME_TWO_SECOND_EDITION.html is the most recent book with this unit in it (as far as I can tell).

This, more than any other reason, is the real difficulty with FW.

HIWPI:
As long as the title of the book that I show up with is the latest version then I go with those rules. I don't care if that same unit happens to show up in a different FW book, with potentially different rules.

If I'm playing someone who happens to have a differently titled book with the same unit on the board, then he uses his rules and I use mine. To me, doing otherwise, leads to insanity.

FFS, it is different than in the new FW Apoc book, this is ridiculous. Units in FW books might be outdated in few months, and there is actually no way to tell that it has happened, unless you buy the new book. People say that codices are expensive, but at least when you buy one, you'll know it is good for a whole edition.

PS. Aeronautica: 155p BS5, Apoc: 155p BS4, IA2: 175p BS4. So they first nerfed the BS in one book, then in the next book raised the point cost. Was that that really necessary?

FYI, for Adepticon we tend to keep a spreadsheet running of where all the latest rules for each IA unit is found. Naturally this doesn't get updated throughout the year, but it is still a good resource most of the time. You can find the latest iteration here:

Which book exactly is that from, Mulletdude?

If it's not from IA V.2 2nd Ed, that is not the most recent book.

edit:

I do happen to have Horus Heresy book 2 and they are listed with wildly different stats than what you've got there. I realize it's a different book and all, but all the other Horus Heresy vehicles, at least, are point for point with their 40k equivalents if they happen to have any.

""If it's not from IA V.2 2nd Ed, that is not the most recent book.""

The above is wrong.

The most current apoc book forgeworld offers is this one, released august 9th of last year. the ia v2 2nd edition is much older than this.
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Armour_Books/IMPERIAL_ARMOUR_APOCALYPSE.html

That book is the only one they sell anymore, that book contains the mortis contemptor, and that book has the mortis as bs4. ( i have it right in front of me and am looking right at the mortis page.)

Are you really saying that a book whose preview came out in august is newer than one which was teased in november?

Imperial Armour Volume 2 2nd Edition is the most recent, it's still on the new release page: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff

According to FW Newsletter #374 it was first available to pre-order at a FW WHW event on the 23rd of November.

My mistake, I responded thinking the abbreviation mean the revised imperial armour apocalypse book, in which case i was correct.

I now see the abbreviation is not finished and had it included the warmachines of the adeptus bit i would have been clearer to me that that was the book being referred to.
