At the moment it just supports 40K and Fantasy, but I could add more game types if there is demand for it. The app comes with NO data due to me not wanting to get sued by GW. However, you can import and export army data via email or website, and I plan to add dropbox support as well in the future.

Due to some changes in the app, data from the previous version isn't compatible with this release. This was required in order to make the app more cross platform friendly (I'm working on an Android version right now).

Some of the current features:

- Lets you build a library of weapons, rules and other options so that you won't need to re-enter them every time you build a new unit.

- Armies can be copied, so if you've already created a template for Space Marines, which share many weapon and model names with other Space Marine variants (Blood Angels, Grey Knights, etc), you can copy the template, rename it and already have all the weapon and model data entered.

- Unit options are aware of the status of other options for that unit and will automatically enable or disable themselves if a required weapon or specific model to apply to isn't present

- Export lists to PDF and email

- Export Army data via email

- Exported PDF files contain a reference section for weapons and other items your army has equipped. So if you go to a tournament your list will have all the information about equipped weapons and potential powers or magic your army might use.

- Supports detachments: Allows you to create custom detachments and includes the standard detachments. If you export an army, any detachments specific to that army are exported with it.

I'm working on others as time permits. If anyone buys the app and builds a template, please forward it to me and I'll add it to this thread.

I've built a few importable files for the new version:
Grey Knights - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8cIr807lNOKdFp5MmdIMS1ILUU/view?usp=sharing

Astra Militarum - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8cIr807lNOKMU8zNjRnaFJfQ3c/edit?usp=sharing
Orcs - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8cIr807lNOKSjljR0xBcGtKNW8/edit?usp=sharing
Tyranids - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8cIr807lNOKTkVqV1lDSzR6WUU/edit?usp=sharing

Planned features:

I'm going to add a game tracker, so that Psychic Powers or Spells that are randomly determined can be managed by the app during a game. I'd also like to add Win / Loss tracking.

What format does the import of army data take? I would love to be able to type everything into my computer and then import it into my iPhone/iPad, but typing out a whole 'dex worth of stuff into an iPad is a nightmare.

I use Quartermaster currently and dread (pun intented) having to type in all the stats for the Ork Dread Mob list because I can't find an existing template.

It would be awesome if you also released a free "template creation tool" for the PC to go along with this. Something to make it easy to type all the data in.

Also, I love the concept of a game tracker.

The data is stored in a binary format that is the default for the classes iOS uses to archive data. I had initially intended to make all the data files human readable text files, but as the objects used to model everything (units, options, weapons, rules, etc) got more complex it was much faster to go with Apple's archiving classes.

Given how complex data objects for (for example) unit options are, I'm not sure that having the ability to enter the data via text file would actually be a speed improvement over doing it on the phone. There's also a fair amount of error checking built into the apps UI that would be bypassed by text file entry. I think a good compromise might be a Desktop app.

I've always hated building the army templates for Quartermaster (which I'm still a huge fan of) or just about any other list management tool, so I've tried to make things as painless as possible.
The entire app was built around that idea that you'd only have to enter any piece of information once whether it's a weapon, or a rule, and it doesn't matter how many models or units use those pieces of data. I'd eventually like to add some OCR capability to make data entry even easier, but that's a ways down the road.

Ah... that makes more sense. So, if I play Space Marines for example, I don't have to type out the Boltgun stats 100 times.

I like that idea. I think you just earned $2. I'll download tonight and post some feedback after I've had a chance to use it.

Exactly, and if you update the stats after you've added that boltgun, every model for that army that uses it will update as well, the same for rules that you create. You can update the rules text and it'll all display properly. You can also copy an entire army with all it's equipment and rules and just rename the few things that are different, which should make things easier for Space Marine variant armies.

One caveat, I found a couple of bugs after I submitted the app, but I've already got an update in the review pipeline to correct them. Should be available in a day or so, I've heard the review process for app updates is much shorter than the initial review time (took about a week).

Sounds great. I just downloaded the app to my iPhone and like what I see so far. I'm going to try punching the Ork Dread Mob list in on my iPad tonight and see how things go.

Is there a "user's guide" anywhere?

My initial question surrounds models versus units.

If I want to add a Tactical Squad "unit", do I first have to add Space Marine, Space Marine Sargeant and Space Marine Veteran Sargeant "models"?

Same for Orks... add a "Boy" model and a "Nob" model before making a "Boyz" unit?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, what about single model units? If I take a Space Marine Dreadnought, would I create a Dreadnought model followed by a Dreadnought unit composed of one Dreadnought model?

I'd be interested in using this app. Can I eneter the stuff on my computer than share it with my iPad/IPhone?

Can you share templates with other people? So if someone makes a template for Space Marines can I use their template instead of having to make my own?

Ok, I figured out the model/unit thing. This app is actually pretty intuitive. I love how you can plug in all the wargear and then all the rules and then use those things like building blocks to build the units. If an FAQ comes out, it looks like you can update the Wargear or Rule and it cascades to every unit affected.

Very nice. I can't wait to plug in some data or see others do the same.

Last question (which I may very well figure out on my own)...

Is there functionality for specialty unlocked units? Like taking a unit of Space Marine Bikes with a Biker Captain? Is there any validation preventing me from taking the Bikes without the Captain, or not showing me the Bikes unless a Captain is present?

One of the things I did to make data entry easier was to let you build a gear list (like Daemonic Rewards for CD, or Support Systems and Signature Systems for Tau). You build the gear list for the army, and then when building unit options you can easily add the entire list (or multiple lists) to that option.

I'm working on that right now. There are some options that shouldn't be able to be taken if another option is selected. Such as:

A model in Terminator Armor cannot take a Bike
In the CSM codex, Chaos Space Marines can trade their Boltgun for items A or B, or they can trade their Bolt Pistol for items C or D

So it'll likely end up like you can add a requirement that a certain unit be part of the list in order for another unit to be allowed to be chosen.

Also, if anyone's interested, I've got a mostly complete template for Chaos Daemons complete (it's missing some of the Heralds). I'll start working on the newer books that I have (Nids, Eldar, Tau, CSM and DA, I haven't purchased Codex: Space Marines yet). If you PM me I'll send you the info. I'm going to setup a dropbox or google drive account to put completed Templates in. Another issue I just found is the file extension for Armies doesn't seem to have registered correctly. But if you import a list, the army the list was built from is included as well.

I may just not be figuring this out, but how would I do the below.

Setup a Tau Fire Warrior Squad. Unit Size is 6-12. Default is 6 Fire Warriors.

One Fire Warrior may be upgraded to a Fire Warrior Shas'ui for 10 points. The Shas'ui can take upgrades, but the regular Fire Warriors can't.

I don't see an immediate way to add the 10 point "sarge" upgrade to a Fire Warrior. I essentially need to be able to do...

1x [Fire Warrior] MAY BE REPLACED BY 1x [Fire Warrior Shas'ui] FOR 10pts

Actually, I tinkered and figured it out. Worked out as intended.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Possible issue. Unless I'm doing something wrong, the list isn't showing default wargear for models.

For example, I made an Ork Boyz list with Choppa/Slugga default. I added an option letting all Boyz replace Sluggas for Shootas. If I take that option, it shows the Shootas, but never shows the Sluggas/Choppas. If I reset the option, Shootas go away, but Sluggas/Choppas still don't show.

Some things like that might not be obvious, I did almost all of the testing, which isn't the best idea because I'm used to all the UI quirks and am familiar with why they're like that. If you find anything that could be clearer like the above issue, let me know.

If you're talking about the display in the app when you're applying options to the unit, I decided to only show items that were added to each model. The in-app display won't show default gear. I went this way because some models have a lot of stuff by default (ie Space Marines), and if I showed everything there might be too much noise. Also, currently the cells that display each model aren't dynamically sized, so if there's too much info, it'll get truncated. In the near future I'll probably make them dynamically sized and add all the current gear. It's on my to-do list.

I'll PM you my email address, if you could mail the list you've built I'll take a look.

On the page that shows all the lists, if you tap and hold you'll get a menu. One of the options is 'Export List Data'. That'll open a mail UI with the List data attached. The army template is included with the list.

Other than that, how do you like it so far?

I'm really digging it. It's really nice to be able to punch all the wargear and rules in once and then build the units from the pieces. I've started working on the Dread Mob list from IA8, but haven't gotten far since I'm doing it during breaks here and there.

I actually just did an email export to myself of the PDF and that shows ALL the wargear as well as the reference at the bottom. That's perfect. All I could have asked for.

I love that I can generate the list, email it to myself as a PDF and then drop it into DropBox for storage.

I'll email you the template when it's a little more complete and keep an ongoing list of things I can't figure out or that seem to not be working... an example is that Gretchin Mobs start with 1 Runtherd and 10 Gretchin, can add 20 more Gretchin, but require 2 Runtherds for 11-20 and 3 Runtherds for 21-30. I don't see a way to add the validation that there are enough Runtherds in the unit. I guess I could make a subunit with 1 Runtherd and 1 Gretchin with the ability to add 9 more Gretchin, and allow 2 of these subunits to be taken, but that seems a little cumbersome.

Is that the best way in your opinion?

If you want the limits to be enforced, then the best way is probably what you've described. I figured that I couldn't model everything at first, especially since I haven't looked at most of the older books in a while, some of them I've never opened (such as IG). I think to fix this issue, I'll probably add some sort of automatic upgrade once a certain threshold is reached.

The codices are so full of odd exceptions that are easy when using pen and paper, but add a lot of complexity when trying to model it in code. I kept running into examples where my assumptions weren't good enough and I had to recode a bunch of stuff. For example, I was almost ready to submit the app and was reading the Tau Codex and noticed that while various models could take X items from the Ranged Weapons list, the could take multiples of the same thing, and they could take Twin-Linked versions of each thing, but the TL versions counted as two choices, so I had to add code to allow a given selection from a list to be worth more than 1 choice.

I bought this and have been trying to put together a chaos daemons template for WHFB, but there's a few things I can't get my head around, if anyone has the time and patience to knock up an idiot-proof user guide that would be much appreciated. Also is there anyway to set the maximum unit size as unlimited?

Actually I think I'm starting to work it out, BUT I think there might be display problems on the ipad mini, which I'm using. things are often slightly off the edge of the screen and when I go to the list view to add units I can't see any unit types other than lord or hero, it lets me add core units and it adds the points values but I can't see them anywhere to select them and change options.

I've got an update in the review pipeline, that should fix some of the bugs. I've found a couple more that'll be submitted as soon as the current update is reviewed. I did most of my testing for 40K on my phone, and did some testing on my iPad as well, I'm not sure why the UI scaling would be off for the mini, but I'll run it through the simulator and see if I can get that sorted.

I didn't include a way to make the max unit size unlimited, I could add that in a future version.

great, thanks. I really like the app and would like to use it as my go-to list builder. It's good to see that it's being well supported as well so far.

Any idea about the best way to add standard bearers and musicians in whfb? Adding them as alternate models or having a gear upgrade?

I'd probably add them as a different model. It would be more obvious that they're present in the unit that way.

Just a heads up. I have an iPad and I have to start the app with the iPad in "vertical" mode and not landscape. If I do landscape, bits of the app are missing off either side and won't come back until I shut off the app and restart. Let me know if you need screenshots.

The missing unit types (special and rare) for WHFB is an oversight on my part that's corrected in the current build I'm working on. As soon as Apple approves the current update I submitted I'll get these fixes in the queue for approval.

The stat templates are just what's copied into a model's stats field when a model type is selected. It's to make it data entry easier. I think it's more relevant to 40K, where vehicles, walkers and infantry types have different stat profiles.
