Was going to magnetize them for both, but for Apoc I acquired a ride for them. Figured a Stormlord might get them to combat at least once before a D strength Apoc blast removes them from the table.

Update

Getting things together...

Still need 28 more thunder hammers. Rather slow process buying them 4 at a time off ebay. Could cast the rest, but not very interested in it.

Dang that's a whole bunch of SMs. Looking good so far. It will be cool to sew the final product.

You sir, are mad. But by being mad, you get mad props. Once you are done, make sure to get a nice group shot. That way in the next “What’s the most expensive/killy unit” thread we can just reply with a link and say “These guys.”

Kudos on taking one of the theoretical extreme units and making it a reality.

I thought to myself, 'Wow, 30 MEQ with dual THs is kinda crazy in terms of modelling + painting'.

Then I wondered how many points that would equate to. A quick bit of research later and I think your crazy running 2400 points worth of this!

I, however, will stick around because the final group shot will look awesome!

Update

Got the base coats started.

First 30 arms started.

While I work on the other half of the arms I went and started working on the stormlord I got cheap off ebay.

Need to decide at this point if I should use the Death Company paint scheme on the Stormlord for consistency or use a IG scheme.

Also plan on attaching Azrael to the blob along with the DC chaplain for re-rolls on to hit and to wound and a 4++ invulnerable. 150 Str 9 re-rolling attacks kills just about everything in the game I guess. Need to acquire models though. The starter kit DA HQ could work for Azrael, but do they have a plastic model for the named DC chaplain?

Oh god... You're a lunatic. Who actually does this?

Where'd you get 60 thunder hammers from though?

Update, very busy week not much time for hobby.

Got some highlights done so I can start doing the details...

Highlights and some detailing already started on the Stormlord. I decided to just make everything match and go all Death Company colors...

Still some things I don't like about the Stormlord, but I got it cheap off EBAY so it's expected. Another good deal I got and decided to add it to the apoc army...

It's coming together slowly, only need a few more thunder hammers to finish all 30 meq. As far as where I got all the hammers? A lot of bits buying online. 4 hammers to a vangaurd box so its slow going and they are only right handed so I'm in the process of converting all the left hands.

Update

Very busy with classes, but I got around to doing a test model before I start rolling them all out. Still waiting on a few more hammers anyway.

Testing some colors out, I really don't like the GW gold. No idea what colors I am doing with the thunder hammers yet. Will have to take a weekend and knock them all out.

I think these are power armor arms, not terminators.

Edit* After reading the description, yeah....these are power armor.

You have great patience taking on such a large amount of models at once. I could probably manage 5 at a time without getting utterly disheartened by the scale of the project!

Finally got some work done now that finals are done.

Finished the arms and started the detail painting. Have to finish this and play them once before they most likely get removed in the new codex.

Big Update, considering they are nearly finished.

Major colors are done. I still need to wash them and then work on highlighting all of the colors and metals. Anyone have any advice concerning the new blood technical paint vs a plain gloss for all the vials and gems? Which would have better results for the glass effect?

Bits sites, or cutting regular left arms apart to accept thunder hammers.

I’ve found that BftBG works OK for glassy effects. It’s like a thick wash that looks like it never dried. If you want a gloss in only one spot, and want red, it should work. I don’t gloss my minis, so can’t talk about comparisons. Here is a WIP pic of a drop pod console where I used it over the silver-drybrushed black (aka the rest of the piece)

Spoilered to keep my pics out of your thread:

I think I will just stick with normal gem highlights and a plain gloss. Looks just as good and I don't need to buy anything.
