I have painted close to 60 models so far, and I will try and get all of them up eventually. I take pride in all of them and I think every one is well done compared to most I play against, but are not comparable to professional paint jobs or expert. I rate them all around 75%. I don't use very many advanced techniques, dry brushing is about the furthest I have ventured. I am by no means a skilled painter, but I do pour hours into most model paint jobs, half of which is retouching up paint lines and trying to make sure there are no mistakes. This one is my personal favorite and the latest I have done. It took me somewhere between 10 and 15 hours total over 2 days (what I didn't have a lot to do). I can't wait to hear some feedback!

Looks clean and well done to me. Is that pink or just the lighting?

The tentacle and face are emperors children (GW) which is a bright true looking pink, both are shaded with nuln oil. the body/skin is screaming pink(GW) which is really more or a redish purple or maroon. the picture is from my phone so it gets detail well but the colors are slightly off.

Okay, there are a few good points and a few points where you can greatly improve. I like that you've taken the time to really try and bring out all the details on this very complicated model. The paint work is mostly very clean and there isn't much streaking or overlap. The down side, though, is that your colors are very flat right now. There isn't any depth to your colors, and you can fix this by using washes and then highlighting afterwards.

Love him. This is the first Helbrute I've seen that didn't go for a disgusting paint job. You really kept it simple, which is a great choice here. His 'homerun' pose really shines.

Very nice, my only concern is that the face is kinda bland. Even in that picture it just looks like a sort of pink mask, can't really see much detail. Maybe try more colors on the face or some highlights/wash?

On the tabletop this may not matter because Helbrutes' faces are much smaller than the rest of their body, or it could matter a lot and just look like a pink circle, I'd have to see it in person.

i used a wash on the face and the detail looks a bit better in person. You can see the white eyes, white teeth and red tongue as well and the wash on the face itself gives it some life. I do however know I am lacking in details as far as layering or shading goes, mostly I don't do it other than with washes. I feel I could have used a wash on the skin itself (not the face but the body) to bring out the details in the abs and muscles etc..

Basically just do a heavy wash all over the body and then go back over the raised areas with the base color again. That alone will increase the quality of your work significantly.

This. Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade are called "liquid talent" for a reason. Other than the lack of washes its a great job

So basic consensus is I wash the entire thing with earthshade or nuln oil, the skin mostly, and then go back with the base color and hit the major protruding ridges, such as the surface of the abs ect?
