I remember when I sent them I had that very same impression: Damn there are a lot of small pieces in there.

Glad to see they went together so well and look great there as a group!

Spoiler:

Those are 40mm bases, but you can see they don't have a lot of bulk to them, and Eikovra and Myrkanio are quite crouched down. Agriosavra is standing taller and really makes the others look a bit small, but none of them are bulky like ogres - they're very lithe, just take up a lot of space due to their poses (and tails in particular) so wouldn't fit on 30mm bases.

Also note that the big unit of metal models in this pic are shorter than an average 28mm human. But hopefully the bases (40mm for the savrar, 30mm for the metal models) give an idea of scale.

However, part of the reason I'm excited for a metal savrar unit is because these characters come in a zillion pieces each and are some of the hardest models to put together that I've ever attempted! But size-wise, I'm thrilled with them

Thanks for the photo! I was hoping that they would be a bit smaller, compared to truescale stuff they would be probably be ogre-sized.

I had a poorly painted picture of Agriosavra compared to a space marine and a Krokodar, the first of the Khthon monstrous infantry that got released.

The lizard isn't much bigger than a marine, but his body is a lot more splayed out and takes up a lot more space than the marine.

All those spikey frills on his head were separate pieces, and he has all sorts of fril going down his back and arms, and they were so freaking thin... ugh.

I so look forward to the day all that stuff is hopefully cast directly on the body and I don't need to glue it on myself.

Thanks highlord! I was actually googling around for scale shot of savrars and krokodars about an hour ago. The savrar looks a bit tinier then I first thought, they might actually work for my project of oldschool WHFB lizardmen.

How so? Is it the color? The Gorn was a bit more of an olive drab, wasn't it? And he had those weird multifaceted eyes.

(Unsurprisingly the Gorn was my favorite Star Trek character as a kid.)

Well, clearly it looks that way to ME right now - through the lens of...many years of memory....

I do think it is the overall color (close enough!) and the yellow eyes...

How long does it take for your pledge to show up in your money-back account? I logged into my account I set up way back for KS1 and my Metal Age pledge isn't showing. Will I get email notification from Mierce when its ready? I honestly can't remember how it worked with KS1.

Yeah, there's typically a bit of a delay, as I think the pledge needs to be credited manually to your account.

I don't think the METAL AGE money is in anyone's account yet?

Usually it is in there pretty quickly, but it is taking a bit longer than usual this time.

I don't think you'll get an individual email alerting you when it hits, but Rob usually sends out a Kickstarter update saying "it is in there and everything's set up and read!"

I think!

Won't make any odds, it is going to take me ages to decide between the Eye Of Baalor and the Jutes starters (and both isn't an option right now, I couldn't even pledge the full value of the starter!)

I expect its a bit more complicated this time as they need to work out all the drinking minis and subtract from the amount they add.

Yup it's open season, and I've spent mine already too..

for new backers make sure you use your moneyback when ordering

there's a tick box to fill in, and then type in the amount of moneyback you want to use, then click update

Automatically Appended Next Post:
the other important thing to remember is to buy at least one shipping wave

(as I've ordered wave 8 & 9 I'll pick the 2 shipments items as I want stuff as fast as possible, it's horrible having to wait on that single mini that's really, really delayed but if you're patient or don't care one shipment will send it all once everything is done)

if you've picked up a bunch of the existing minis you can get them sent ASAP with the existing items shipment option,

but remember Mierce is busy with orders from previous KS, and with items for retailers, and has their master mould maker only part time as he's recovering from an operation and they won't actually see any of your money from KS for another 2 weeks so even if you pick this option you're not going to get a package tomorrow

(my guess based on previous experience is 4 weeks give or take but if you really need something fast contact mierce to check if it's possible)

Edit: remember don't pay for the shipping with money back

Automatically Appended Next Post:
when you're actually checking out you'll hit a section asking about shipping options,

this is for the normal webstore (but is too tricky to remove just for KS backers), so you need to work around it

just pick a FREE option if there is one,

if your order is small there may not be so just pick the least expensive option and contact mierce and rob will manually refund that to your credit card

Darklands II First Edition II

It's Friday, Yeah!

The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.

It's been a while since the last one, simply because we've been so busy - but here we are again.

This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Stéphane Camosseto and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

This week we have something new from Yannick Hennebo and something completed from Benoît Cosse and Aragorn Marks...

It's been a while since we saw anything from Aragorn Marks, but here's a lovely little alternate, completed - Umaer Drast for the Albainn!

Umaer Drast will be a Wave 8 shipment!

After much uhmming and ahhing, we've decided to return to traditional sculpting for a few units that were originally slated to be sculpted digitally. Yannick Hennebo is our man of the moment and so we've given him two of the units, the Demilegionarii and the Warriors of Dyngonwy, Rhyfelwr Unit - with predictable results!

The herald of the unit, Cefin, gets the treatment, and he's blimmin' awesome! Check out that moustache!

These guys will be a Wave 9 shipment; there's no way Yannick can get them done in time for Wave 8.

The amazing Benoît Cosse has completed the Slaughterers, Krokodar Unit but in typical fashion the images leave a little to be desired... so here's videos! [check the update for the videos https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-first-edition-ii/posts/1303618, dakka won't show them]

The lovely Okkáv is looking great!

Brudok is a brutal Krokodar and no mistake...

Finally, here's Maskó!

The Slaughterers should be a Wave 8 shipment!

Wave 6 and 7 shipments are ongoing

Thanks to Tim (our master moulder)'s operation, the recovery from which has not always been smooth, our moulding schedule has been put back by around a month - which means Wave 6 and 7 shipments are still ongoing and will be for some time.

We will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.

Wave 8 should begin at the end of August, but we'll see where we are in a month's time and let you know what will happen.

(more info on what's been sculpted and by whom can be found on the update https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-first-edition-ii/posts/1303618, I won't bother copying it across as the formatting does not carry over)

Monstrous Mounts update - Krekkek!

Sávrakhs and Pig-Bogs

The Mierce Friday is here once more! As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules done.

It's been a while since the last one, simply because we've been so busy - but here we are again.

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon and Gautier Giroud;
•a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6 shipments have begun;
• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

The mighty Roberto Chaudon has begun work on his sculpts from this project and we've another update from the lovely Gautier Giroud...

Krekkek

With everything finished from previous projects, Roberto has turned his attention to Monstrous Mounts - beginning with the mighty Krekkek, a Bull Sávrakh for the Khthones! It's early days yet but you can see he's taking shape - that circle is 100mm, by the way...

Krekkek will be a Wave 9 shipment, we think.

Beb on Pig-Bog

Gautier Giroud has completed Beb on Pig-Bog and he's looking superb!

Here's a scale shot, too...

Beb on Pig-Bog should be a Wave 8 shipment!

Not bad, I like the plague demon, and Morley is finally getting the riders on those beasts.

Too bad there was no new kindreds update today, other than mentioning that frenzied Srok is finished. Glad Roberto is moving in to Monstrous mounts finally, can't wait to see him finish that and dig into the Atlantians!

I've almost talked myself into getting two starters and trying to introduce this game to my group. How far off from typical army size would one be with a starter set? Also, would you recommend the 750 gold upgrades or the 1000 gold ones? As far as I can see, both types have big monsters, but the 1000 gold upgrades have HUGE monsters.

Given the nature of the game in terms of scale, round bases etc, Darklands is the sort of game Age of Sigmar should have been IMO.

Anyone else notice that AoS features diminishing effectiveness for large creatures as they take wounds.

I wish Darklands had that since the very beginning.

No, wait...

July releases!

There Be Monsters

We're a bit late with the releases again this month, for which we must apologise, but the July releases are finally here and are very monstrous indeed! From both Darklands: First Edition and Darklands: First Edition II, these eight releases represent the ninth and third set of releases from those projects respectively.

The Albainn get a Mormaer on Pony, the Byzantii a Centurion and the Ysians Crom on foot and on horse in one pack, but the rest are all monstrous! The Anglecynn have a mighty Mægenwulf to crush their enemies with, called Cnebba; the Brythoniaid gain a huge and powerful lesser dragon, Parawn; the Fomoraic have Brunchaath the Vile on Gooracx to strike at their enemies; and the Norse get a cracking Troll King called Thórrir, the better to murderise the foe with. Oh, and last but not least, we have a superb Ancestor to bring to you - a sell-sword of the Friesians, Rikkard!

Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release, but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.

Dúngal, Mormaer of Dun Durn on Pony

The Albainn ride tough, sturdy ponies into battle, smaller than horses but perfectly able; and Dúngal, the Albainn Mormaer, is riding just such a beast here! Sculpted by Olivier Nkweti from the artwork by Sam Lamont.

Cnebba, Mægenwulf

Sculpted by the masterful Allan Carrasco from the superb artwork by Christophe Madura, Cnebba - pronounced 'NEB-a' - is a mighty Mægenwulf of the Anglecynn, a huge and powerful wolf-beast many times larger than a human!

Parawn, Draigllai of Idris

The Brythoniaid are all about the dragons, and this month we have a mighty Draigllai named Parawn, a lesser dragon than Angrislaug he may be but he is still incredibly powerful and his fire is deadly. Sculpted by the amazing Roberto Chaudon from the artwork by Dan Warren!

Equitus Durio, Centurion on Foot

The centurion, Equitus Durio, has been a while in coming but finally you have a powerful warlord to lead your Byzantii and Infernii. Sculpted by Yannick Hennebo from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Equitus is more than capable of leading a mighty host!

Brunchaath the Vile, Gabrax Tain on Gooracx

Brunchaath the Vile was one of our first ever miniatures and it is only fitting that we give him a mount! Sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Brunchaath is riding a mighty Gooracx or goat-beast, strong and powerful and nasty on the charge!

Rikkard, Lord of Rijswijk

Rikkard is another Ancestor, a miniature designed by one of our Kickstarter backers, in this case the prolific commenter and brilliantly supportive Rick Boer from the Netherlands. Rick supplied us with images of himself along with a brief of who his ancestors actually were, and we decided his ancestor would be perfect to bring the first Friesian - the modern day Dutch - to Darklands!

Sculpted by a newcomer to our range -Michael Anderson - from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Rikkard (like all the Ancestors) is a sell-sword and so can be used by just about every host in Darklands!

Thórrir, Troll Konungr

A mighty Troll King, is Thórrir, a huge and powerful warlord who commands the Trolls of the Norse to do his bidding and smash the enemy to pieces. Sculpted by the incredible Allan Carrasco from the artwork by Stef Kopinski!

Crom of Carn Wrach, War-Drune on Foot and on Horse

A War-Drune of the Ysians, Crom of Carn Wrach has been released on foot and on horse before now, but here you can purchase him in both forms - but cheaper than purchasing him individually. Sculpted by Stéphane Simon from the artwork by Danny Cruz!

All of the releases above were officially released on the 4th of July 2015, and so you can order them right now.

Watch out for the August releases, which should be unveiled in the next week or so!
