Hi all

This is the first time ive ever posted although I lurk on the forums a bit, thought it might be time to show my stuff and hopefull get some feedback, inspiration and advice. Also, maybe I'll stay on track for this project. I'm basing it in pre-heresy Death Guard, but with extras thrown in at whim - I couldnt decide on a specific time-period so I just went with 'I'll get the models I feel like getting'. It's a great time to be a DG player (with the exception of a certain non-existent Primarch model) and hopefully new releases will keep me occupied for a while - if i can get around the 2k mark I'll be happy. Here are a few photos just from my phone that I took of the stuff I've been working on. Love to know your thoughts!

Neat stuff muscle. Welcome to the world of posting on dakka.

I like the bases you've chosen to use. The industrial stuff looks great. What other projects do you have planned?

Thanks man. Yeah those bases were Typhon inspired, wanted the rest of the army to match, just scratch-built them outta plasticard. I'm not really sure what to work on next, possibly more Marines, or Grave Wardens, or Contemptors or a Sicaran Venator... haha don't know! Here's a photo of the whole force as it stands.

Thanks Belial really appreciate that. I have five more plague marines on the painting table (just waiting for some more bits, including right-arm shoulder pads you may have noticed missing!), and I'll take some better photos with better light. And when the Blight Drone is done haha

The white and the markings are brilliant! Looking forward for more pictures!

Excellent work on Typhon, man. That's one of the best paint jobs on him I've seen which is saying something because it's a great model so lots of phenom painters flocked to it

Wow thanks SRSFACE thats quite a compliment, blown away by that. And thanks for your comments Boba really appreciate the feedback. Hopefully tomorrow I will complete the rest of the squad (just need to do a pair of weapons) and I will post those up, they all have right shoulder pads now too haha. Then I will prepare to order the next unit, not quite sure what to do next though Im thinking another infantry unit is the go (particular as I'm one troops choice short of a legal list) - but haven't decided which Mark, style, DG heads + torsos, etc etc to use...

Ok a bit of an update; I was hoping these would be done to post but I really feel they should be listed as 'WIP' - they are mostly done, but hardly to the standard of Typhus which means I want to spend a bit more time working on them; any suggestions for improvement are welcome. Also I feel like maybe I should paint over the powerfist and start again, I struggle with OSL and Im not really sure I've pulled it off. As one of my friends said about my Master of Signal (who I suppose I should post as well!) - 'it looks like you've accidentally got green on his hand!' Haha. Oh well.

Here are some photos of the whole squad.

Love the minis. THe OSL is a little bit subdued. I think you want to go a little bit stronger with your colors. I am not a real OSL master by any means but most people really emphasize the glow. You might check out some OSL on Cool Mini or here in the dakka gallery to see what i mean. I know how it is. You have a new technique and the impulse is to be tentative with it so you don't overdo it. REst of the marines look great. I like the just after the herasy look, at least thats kinda how i interpret it. Great job on the scythe emblem on captain Typhon's belt..

Hey guys thanks for that feedback!

I am just taking the photos with my iphone at the moment, its the best Ive got but I realise some parts are a bit out of focus so I will have to try to get them a bit clearer.

As for the shoulderpads, are you talking about the ones on the right shoulder being plain? Im not really sure what I should put there, the Tactical squad markings I suppose, I do have the Death Guard FW Transfer sheet so it's totally do-able - speaking of which, Typhus' belt scythes are a transfer, not freehand. I actually do rate my freehand ability (haha) but had them there, so used them. Getting transfers on to rounded surfaces however is the bane of my life, and I havent been prepared thus far to invest in the specialist two-part transfer appying chemicals (whatever they are called).

As for the OSL, I might leave his powerfist, and just try harder on the next weapon - I am imagining a double-handed greatsword would be appropriately cool.

Good observation on the 'just after heresy' theme - I love the models FW are releasing so much, but I really wanted to avail myself of the truckloads of plastic bits available from GW, which meant I couldnt build a 'pure' pre-heresy army. So while I plan to have some squads (which will count as regular CSM) wearing full FW armour, there will also be some Plague Marines, Daemon Prince (Morty!!) etc in the army.

I am taking artistic license here, as I understand when the DG became Plague Marines they lost the white armour and came out all sickly green/ brown but whatevs.

Unfortuately, apart from completing the base for the Blight Drone, I dont have anything else on the way for this army, so my next update may be a while - although I have holidays in 4 weeks with my brother and we have both agreed to paint a Knight Titan each for our armies, I am also going to have a full squad of marines to work on because I have four days off, and I'll probably smash the knight titan in one day haha.

Here are some old photos of my Master of Signal, converted out of spare bits and painted as the test model for this army. As you can see his base needs to be updated to match the rest.

So it's been a while, today I was mucking around with a photo editing app. I'm in love with this haha. And now that Mortarion is out, this project may be back on track...
