Part of a model-per-week challenge I have going with two buddies. We are determined to get out of plain plastic battles. The results my week two model as we stumble through learning how to paint. All comments good and bad welcome! Roll on!

Not too bad, good to see a newbie having a crack at edge highlighting :3 I like his base but you could do with painting the the edge a brown colour. Your reds are nice and rich, your metals are defined, all in all a nice model! One thing I'd say is that your terminators eye lenses are a bit too thin, if you look closely at the model there's a lower part to the lens :3

Not bad, mate! I love the little subtle glow coming off the energy bob on the sword there. Very well done.

Some constructive criticism:
If you're a big fluff fan, Deathwing terminators are actually more of a bone-white than white-white. Feel free to paint them how you wish, however. If you want to go more of a bone-hue, going over the whole thing with a sepia wash (the GW "Seraphim Sepia" shade paint works just fine for this) will do the trick without you having to repaint from scratch.

CC that actually matters now
There are actually little skulls in the robes on the bottom, that look like they were just the same green as the robes. You don't have to pop them out, but I feel like it helps complete the model's aesthetic.

Something kind of cool and interesting you can do with the rope to help it feel more velvet-looking rather than just a dark pink is to use a slightly coppery red to highlight it, then use a final slightly brighter shade of pink over that. It's what I do on purity seals and sword grips, and comes out pretty good. If you're using Citadel paints, Wazdakka Red and Pink Horror do the trick.

I see you've got a white dot on the lenses of the gun and the bionic eye, which is cool as it definitely helps. To really sell the lens flare look, though, you need a lot of contrast. What I've started to do is start with the lens totally black. In just one crescent-shape, I paint in the color I want the glass to be, leaving what is essentially a black dot in about a quarter taking up a "corner" (as much as circular objects can have corners?). Make a smaller crescent inside that of a shade brighter, and if you can do it thin enough a itty bitty tiny white crescent inside of that. Then, a single tiny itty bitty white dot in the black part of the lens. It's pretty easy to do and adds a lot of depth.

Thanks for the kind comments and CC, guys!

BrotherofBone, you def have a point about the eye lens. I tried a thin line of white for a shiny-eye look, but I think it gets lost a bit in the highlight (which is really pallid). When I am feeling braver, I will try to correct it. Thanks for the compliment!

Good point on fluff, SRSFACE, I think part of the problem with this particular model is my lack of photography skills. He is painted rakarth flesh, I think my lighting has washed out the color. I was going for more of an ashy-bone look than the yellow-y cream-bone that they use in the codex.

I will definitely try out the techniques on the eye and lenses! Always trying to learn new tricks!

Thanks for the help, fellas!
