Subject: Lord of Skulls Conversion (will update as I go)
I am in the process of converting my Lord of Skulls model into hopefully something so much more. I am creating my own Chaos Warband, possibly called the Tortured Vassals of Khorne. This Lord of Skulls will be the crown piece of the entire army, an altar to pain, a symbol of fear, a terrible weapon, and it will represent everything about this warband. They are required by Khorne's decree to consume blood and pain to survive, their victims, and their own, even each others'. So, with this in mind, I'm building a tortured Lord of Skulls, mostly self-inflicted, that will tower over the battlefield and compete with titans.
I won't go into details on the detailing (pun), but I will explain some of the broader points. I will use the big totem from the War Shrine model as an extended spine/headdress. This will be positioned on top of the existing spine, and will have spinal tissue made from green stuff on it. Both "spines" will have additional spikes added. The head will be from the Giant model, hopefully it will work out. I don't possess this piece yet, so I don't know if it will work. If it does, some of the spinal tissue from the totem will connect to the base of the head. The Lord will be holding three Juggernauts on a chain leash out in front. The whole model will be placed on a base. I will use the tusks form the War Shrine as tusks here, and the front face thing will be attached to the Skulldozer. I will construct a meat grinder on the back of the model instead of the blood tanks, although there will be tubes out of the grinder feeding into two of the blood tanks which will now be placed at an angle above the shoulder level. The model will be painted a dirty white/crimson, with various other detailing. Anyway, here's a look at what I have so far.
There's much more to do, and some parts aren't glued yet (hence the blue tack), but just to give you an idea. Too over the top? Never.
I have made one bridle so far and it took me hours. Those chains are tiny! One down, two to go.
Update: 18/2/14
Spoiler:
Today was a slow day, as I was working. I have made some very brief progress on my meat grinder, but I also delved into green stuff for the first time today and came out with a reasonable amount of confidence in it, so I think this meat grinder will go well. I sprayed the main body of the LoS black. I don't have any pictures of it, but it's just the base section of it as before, but now black. I started making the spine of the War Shrine totem more "organic," and I started making some spikes on the two spines, but it's close to bedtime now and I have just finished using all the green stuff I had made, so I'll call it a night.
Organic spine and spikes.
Extra spikes. The reason I'm making these extra spikes is so that both spines will be consistent with their spikes, and will hopefully leave the impression that the machine spine is just armour for the real vertebrae of the beast inside this machine, which then escaped out from behind the head because of artificially induced elephantitis, with the spinal cord and tissue still attached to the head and the spine now painfully decorated in the many symbols and spoils of war.
Update 21/2/14
Spoiler:
Ok, I've been slowly and steadily making some progress. Tomorrow I will paint the Skulldozer, but for today I will show you what I have. Behold...
Now, the totem has still not been glued on, as I'm waiting for some bitz to arrive in the most to mount it on, and neither has the Skulldozer or the face thing I'll put on the front. However, you can see me experimenting with green stuff on the spikes, which is still incomplete, except it's my bed time now and I've had enough of that bloody stuff sticking to my fingers and not going into the shape I want it. The center spike of each set of three will be lengthened, while the outer two will be lengthened and then curved upwards and finally outwards, with a skull on their ends. On the back, the center spike will also be lengthened, while the outer two will go maybe an inch up after curving around, and from each will be suspended a skeleton head and torso.
I have also gotten around to glueing the skull gun on the front of the model. I had to saw off a bit of the back of the piece and do a considerable amount of filing to get it to work, but I think it looks great now.
Imagine that the big totem thing is straight, as it will be in the final product.
A close up of the back spine thing. As you can see I've added some extra spikes to it. I've also put some green stuff on the pole of the totem, with the intention of giving it a more organic and bony shape.
Update 22/2/14
Spoiler:
I have painted the Skulldozer. This was my first miniature painting in ten years, and it took me seven hours to complete.
Update 2/3/13
I'm slightly changing my plans. The big totem from the War Shrine model will no longer be used as an extended spine, the top of it will now be used in place of the headress (as was my original plans).
I just have to separate the head from the headress now as they have been stuck together with paint.

Colours aren't showing very well, the photo is too bright.

I've seen a few versions, but there's just something about it I don't like. I did consider converting the machine into a moving throne that he'd sit on, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work. Maybe another time!

More exalting comes your way. I once did loads of chaos conversions, so I understand the draw. It's like a drug, once you get started, stopping is not an option. Can't wait to see it done!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I really hope I can draw the line before this just becomes ridiculous. This will take several weeks to complete, as I have a pretty busy work schedule.

I'm more of a modeling/lore person than gamer, but when I do play, no. I want to play very fluffily, so it's all about the story and the fun of the battles than the winning.
Bobbing along on the briny North Sea, and Montrose, Scotland when home
This is looking epic, and I dont even play Chaos!
The dozer blade looks amazing, I really like how you got those skulls to really stand out from one another.
Keep your fingers damp and the green stuff shouldnt stick to you, not too wet or it'll just get slimy and stick to nothing Do the same with your sculpting tools and work wil go much smoother.

You could always buy the new Knight and fit another Lord of skulls torso to it and have 2
