Hi all,

After a looooong absence from the hobby due to work and educational commitments, I have decided on a return to army building, and will be combining two of my favourite things...Orks....and Pirates! I'll be converting probably about 50% of the models in the army, and plan to include all the necessary pirate cliches, such as tricorn hats, cannons, stripy vests, eyepatches and much more.

So far I have a handful of models painted, including a Dakkajet that I painted up for a local painting competition, so I'll be posting these up initially, and adding more and more as I progress, my overall aim being getting 1500pts painted before tournament season. So without further ado, I present Kaptin Orkbeardz Norticul Boyz!

Kaptin Orkbeard himself. I realise he doesn't have a beard, but that is not the point he is trying to make...

Masta Gunna Gitshot, the second in command of the Ork Fleet (and obligatory KFF Mek)

Random Ork Nob with Power Klaw.

Should have an update sometime tomorrow, when I should have a Mad Dok and a couple of Nobz built. Stay tuned Dakkanauts!

Ooh, and before I forget, the Dakkajet I was talking about!

Excellent, very characterful, good versions and crisp paintjobs. I'll look forward to seeing a squig parrot! One idea that did pop in my mind was a mini power klaw to act as a peg leg. I really like Gitshot, something about him amuses me but the face on the random nob is executed really well. Kudos.

Thanks very much to Gogsnik!

Quick update, set to work on a few conversions today, and managed to get them ready to paint. Hopefully I should be able to get some paint on these tomorrow.

First up, a Nob to lead my Slugga boyz into combat converted from another Black Scorpion pirate Orc.

Second, a Nob for my Warboss retinue. He has the whole "I av a choppa in ma gob, am a pirate, boyz" thing going on

Third, a Nob with a hook, another of my Warboss' retinue. All the cliches.

Finally, the fleets Doc and sometimes cook, simply known as Da Doc. Probably the most time consuming conversion, and the one I'm most impressed with.

Some C&C would be cool! Thanks guys.

Until next time!

These are brilliant great use of the Black Scorpion stuff. I also really like the painboy. Are you planning to do a proper pirate ship?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I may steal the idea with the Knife in his mouth. Looks very cool. I'd probably sticked the blade in his mouth through and not the holder.

Orks and Pirates, a perfect match. Great work, have you looked at the maxmini heads?

I'm gonna do a pirate ship display board for tournaments eventually, and my trukks will have jolly rodgers, crows nests and suchlike.

Feel free to do this haha

Yes I have, I have a pack of these! The head from the first Nob painted was one of these.

Okay so I'm gonna paint the PK Nob with the coat at my gaming club tonight, hopefully I'll post a progress picture later.

Some minor thread necro in the form of an update! I've been focussing too much on Magic The Gathering for the past year, but 7th and the new Ork book has forced me to get back on my game so to speak.

I love the unbound army type stuff and I'm gonna build a complete force of Meganobz, 30 in total including three Warbosses all of which will ride to war in Battlewagons. Obviously since I need them to tie in with the rest of my pirate army, they will be diving suits...

So I grabbed some plasticard and raided my bitz box, and got to work on the first which was completed from start to finish in around two days (8 hours work in all from building to the end of painting.

Here he is along with the start of my second guy, who, since I took these pictures is now completely built and ready for paint.

First fully painted guy. All plasticard apart from the obvious GW parts.

Nothing guys? Thats cool, have some more anyway!

Finished up converting number two, and he's now painted as well. Also just finished building and undercoating Nob #3, he's got a Big Daddy from Bioshock theme going on, admittedly I put in barely any effort since I had an old Meganob body in my Bitz Box. Also, the mould line on the gun feed, I see it, and its now fixed.

C&C are more than welcome.

"I dun need no hed!"

Any sort of reference to Bioshock is a win in my books.

I'm keen on your Black Scorpion pirate conversions, the potential for a simple old-school Freebooterz Pirate Mob is there! I do miss the dandy button-up coats and flamboyant hats they used to all wear in the artwork.
