So, I am recently unemployed and find myself with a lot of time on my hands. Time to update all my tau models! I've got about 4000pts or so of them, mostly painted, but all unbased. I really wanted to do something different, since I have snow Vostroyan, snow Dark Angels, and I'm working on a sandy-theme thing for my wifes mecha-eldar.
I figured swamp-themed models might be cool, but I really wanted my models to be different on the tabletop too: most bases seem to lose their...spunk?... when seen from a distance: all the colours sort of blend together for me; the bases look nice, but its really just an accent to the model. I wanted to try something completely different, especially since my painting skills are ok but not fantastic.
Ladies and gentlefolks, I present the start of my water-tau: drone bases (kind of like a pic heavy tutorial)
PS: this is at least one occasion where pepsi is better than coke: pepsi has flatter bottles, so I could get more plastic strips out of it
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'll try to get some better shots of completed models
I don't recommend a full power drill for use on plastic or tin/pewter models, though. A power screwdriver is better as it does not spin nearly so fast.
