After completing my heldrake and receiving some amazing reviews on it, I decided to push myself that little bit further on my next model. I have done most of the base coating, the head is around 50% complete and the first of the ecto-plasma cannons just needs some final highlights.
As this is an attempt at seeing just how far I can take my painting, I thought I would ask all you people out there in dakka land for tips on how I can improve it. Please bear in mind the metal parts are in no way complete, I am aiming for a heavily weathered metallic look.

I think it looks great so far! I like the chevrons and the "burnished" gold effect, I also like how you did the wash (nuln oil?), it really got into the crevices of the model nicely. It's good work, and I can't wait to see more.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

I'd say give it a glow coming from the slits in the 'eyes' similar to the plasma glow, like the whole interior of the forgefiend is full of roiling energy. You said you were still working on the plasma coils but yeah those should be highlighted up to white as well. They should be starkly bright next to the grimy weathered monster itself.

Cheers dude. Tbh it never occurred to me to paint the glow into the "eyes" I will give it a go though, I'm sorely tempted to try some osl too.

I think it is beautiful. If I were to give one constructive criticism, I would suggest aligning the stripes between the front and back of the plasma gun better.

I rather enjoy the organic purple parts, I need to learn that technique.

It's really easy dude, deamonette flesh, washed with druchii violet, then layered with deamonette flesh and dry brushed with ushabti bone. With highlights in emperors children.

Made some progress today, though theres still quite a way to go. I've done the flesh on the legs, highlighted the plasma coils a bit, started work on the shoulder armours, and basecoated and shaded the weapon mounts. I don't really want to use the exhaust stacks, so i'm planning on doing something with the lasher tendrils to replace them.
I also started work on the base, although its only a very basic mock up at the moment. As i mentioned earlier, i really want to push myself with this miniature, so any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. As would any constructive criticism/ feedback.

Nearly done with this guy now, but would appreciate any feedback from the kind people here in dakkaland. In particular I would be especially grateful if anyone spots something i have missed, or any tips to improve the paint job.
