Hey dakka, so one of my favorite things to do is put down a few beers and let a cool idea turn into an unnecessary conversion. My most recent exploit came from the release of the tesseract vaut kit that came out a while ago. while the ct'an in the vault seemed like a nifty idea i was kind of let down by the dinky little c'tan running around on his own, hes slightly smaller than a regular c'tan, so decided to make my own larger version. after some procastinating ive finally built and put some paint on him, hes not donw but so far this is what ive got. im still working on him but am running through unique ideas for basing , any ideas/ input would be awesome thanks guys!

I based him off of an old DR. Manhattan model ( hidden junk mode) . the first stages he had some cyber dreads but i wanted more of a regal look so i went with the crown headpiece instead

Jesus, dude, that's awesome. Awesome conversion work, and knowing it's based on Dr. Manhattan makes the end result that much cooler.

Awesome . The painting gives the impression of NMM but its almost like a I can see metalics there . Can you share some of the painting process?
You can base him on top of some necron vehicles. Use a necron flyer (nightscythe) chop less than the half off and stick the other half to the base and the c-tan on top of it.

So here is a quick photshop of my idea... I bet you cant tell its photoshop

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

PM me if you are interested in Commission work.

That's pretty much Galactus, Devourer of Worlds right there. Can't think of a more fitting dude to be a C'Tan. Excellent conversion and paint job too.

That. Is. AWESOME!

To me it is the headgear with the goggles/blindfold that really brings it home. Both regal and powerful, yet a sense of submission and being controlled sneaks in.

I actually did use metallics, all from the citadel line i think 5 in total. some of which i dont think they make anymore or have been re-named. primed black, base coat of leadbelcher and then i hit it with ironbreaker, ( i forget which silver is in between these 2) then highlighted from a light source and than extreme highlights with mithril/r runefang. i think the non metallic look comes from the army painter brand "anti-shine" finish, i love this stuff. cool idea with the scythe. i kind of want to play with some lighting ideas too so we shall see!

I took the ships from my necron BFG fleet the jackal escort and made press molds, then lubricated em so i could pull the green stuff out while still malleable and form them to fit the body. took a try or two to get the process down lol

One of, if not the, best C'Tan conversions I've ever seen. Also, the silver is beautifully painted.

Hard core. Simply fantastic.
Not a huge fan of the metallic skin, but it's a personal thing and NOT a quality thing. Quality-wise, it's incredible.
Nice work. I look forward to seeing the completed model!
