Intrigued by hearing about the rise of a new Deathstar, I thought I'd take a stab at a TAC version.
I've drafted a 2000 point list, but I'm 30 points over.
I'm looking for advice on how to bring it down to 2000, as well as lower point adjustments (1850/1750...1500?), if possible.

+ HQ +

* Destroyer Lord (Mindshackle Scarabs, Sempiternal Weave, Warscythe)

* Nemesor Zahndrekh
* Vargard Obyron

* Royal Court
* Harbinger of Despair
* Harbinger of Despair (Nightmare Shroud, Veil of Darkness)
* Harbinger of the Storm
* Harbinger of the Storm

+ Elites +

* 5 Deathmarks
* Night Scythe

+ Troops +

* 5 Necron Warriors
* Night Scythe

* 5 Necron Warriors
* Night Scythe

* 5 Necron Warriors

+ Fast Attack +

* 6 Canoptek Scarabs

* 5 Canoptek Wraiths

* 5 Canoptek Wraiths

+ Heavy Support +

* Annihilation Barge

* Annihilation Barge

* 3 Canoptek Spyders (1 Gloom Prism)
Zahn, Oby, and D.Lord all join the Spyders (vicious little deathstar, with majority toughness 6, 2+ saves up front and a 3++ to Look-Out-Sir with. The entire squad gets a 4+ save against Psykers. The Spyders S10 AP2 attacks reroll 1s with PE. Zahn can strip Hit and Run from things, thus preventing them from running away. Can jump anywhere on the table. Combine that with Zahn's ability to bring Wraiths in on enemy turn as soon as a reserve unit enters means you can have multiple threats in your opponent's face turn 2).
Wraiths run up to engage things for the Spyders to finish off once they can join the combat.
Death & Despair does its thing.
Can Opener-Court alpha strikes an important vehicle/makes something run off the table for first blood.
Warriors hide in their rides until turn 5, with the foot squad coming on to claim home objective.
Tesla Destructors handle anti-air/hordes

Should I drop MSS from the D.Lord + 1 Scarab base? Or two bases? Dare I drop a Wraith instead?
I realize I'm low in scoring, but not sure what to drop to rectify that.
There's a version that replaces the second Annihilation Barge with a Monolith (for line of sight blocking and Zhan reserve ability shenanigans). Don't know how viable that would be, though.

I would probably drop the royal court and pick up a scythe for the warrior squad on foot and put the wraiths at full strength and if points allowed pick up MSS on the d-lord. The reason being the royal court is going to die the turn after they pop whatever vehicle it is you're pointing them at. This list really doesn't care about vehicles unless they're wave serpents and trading the points in the royal court for 1 wave serpent probably isn't worth it.

Not even for an all-but-guaranteed first blood?
But yeah, I see your point (they and the D&D squad were the only things I really changed from the original list. Figured one of them might be the first to go).
Speaking of the D&D squad, would they be worth keeping in? (they are fairly kamikaze as well, after all).

D&D squads have their uses. They have the mobility in a night scythe to drop in and put the pain on some of these death stars by ignoring their tanks, I.E. The Baron, Chapter Masters, etc... and putting wounds on some of the weaker cogs of the deathstars (warlocks, Centurions, and buff commanders). Or you could use them to just wipe entire troop squads off of objectives. Be smart with them and don't throw them at a rock hard unit only to have them wiped the following turn. That said, they are a one trick pony so don't waste it.

And as far as first blood is concerned the spyder list (without scarabs) doesn't give up first blood very easy. A lot of the games with this list could see first blood happening later in the game like turn 3.

The best State-Texas

Trimming down that list is going to be nearly impossible, when you are so top heavy in the HQ department, and the list relies on it.

I really don't see anything that can be cut. It's a pretty delicate balance.

I would guess the first thing to go would be the Deathmarks and their scythe if you had to cut something.

I'll have to take a look at the original list I based this one on, again (I know the HQ and the 3x Spyders were the same, but I have no idea what else he fit in at what I believe was the 1850 level).
